Awakening

Chapter 4

Dani went to the couch and silently cried while the kids watched t.v.

Dani feed and bathed the children then put them to bed. Dani crawled into her bed hurt, mad, and crying. She pulls out her phone and texts Mark.

Dani (Hey Mark.)

Mark (Hey beautiful, what are you doing?)

Dani (Not much just laying in bed.)

Mark (Both kids asleep?)

Dani (yep)

Mark (So that was weird earlier with the glass)

Dani (yeah it was)

Mark (anyways Do you want to go out tomorrow night?"

Dani takes a few minutes before replying back.

Dani (yes that sounds lovely)

Mark (great I'll pick you up at 8. Goodnight beautiful.)

Dani cried herself to sleep. Maddie comes back into Dani's room.

Maddie "I am so sorry, I shouldn't of said anything. I didn't mean it."

Maddie realized Dani was asleep.
Maddie watches Dani sleep.

Maddie takes a deep breath "I still love you."

The next day the kids were sitting and drawling.

Maddie "please stop giving me the silent treatment. I said I am sorry."

Dani "You still hurt me badly."

Maddie "I know, I am very sorry."

Maddie focuses hard enough and puts her hand on Dani's hand, and Dani feels it.

Dani "How did you do that?"

Maddie "I been practicing since I broke that glass, I wanted you to be able to feel me."

Ding dong, ding dong. The door bell rang. Dani went to answer the door.

Jj "Uncle Tommy!"

Tom "Hey squirt."

Tom bends down and picks up Jj.

Dani "Thanks for coming on short notice."

Tom "No problem. I love baby sitting these guys."

Maddie "why is he babysitting?"

Dani "and you don't mind why?"

Tom "No, I think my sister would want you to move on."

Maddie "Don't listen to him. What does he know."

Dani "Thank you. I am going to go get dressed now."

Tom in the living room with the kids. Dani went upstairs to get dressed. Maddie watched her brother with her kids then headed your stairs to talk to Dani. Maddie walks into the room.

Dani "Hey I am changing!"

Maddie "It isn't anything I haven't seen before. Are you going out with the clown from yesterday?"

Dani "His name is Mark and he is a very nice guy."

Maddie "He didn't seem like a nice guy, he seemed pushy."

Dani started putting on her make up. "Well he isn't, he is nice."

Maddie "You are to good for him."

Dani "well who am I suppose to be with?"

Maddie "I don't know."

Dani "You took yourself off the table."

Maddie "You broke up with me and brought a loser home, you could of saved me."

Dani "I don't want to get into this again."

Maddie "Fine."

Ding dong.

Dani "oh he is here. How do I look?"

Maddie "breathtaking as always."

Dani blushes. "Thank you, I'll be back later."

Dani leaves with Mark. Dani and Mark walk into the restaurant and takes a seat.

Mark "How are you?"

Dani "I am good and you?"

Mark "I am great out with the most beautiful girl in the world."

Dani smiled "Thank you."

Dani heard yelling then looked up.

Maddie "Come in this guy really? He looks like he already has something in his teeth."

Maddie stood right beside Dani. "You can do so much better. He smells like he took a shower in aftershave."

Dani giggled and whispered. "Not now please."

Mark "huh? Did you say something?"

Dani "oh no um. I said I know what I am ordering."

Mark "Okay good. Me too."

They put their menus down and the waiter came and took their orders.

Mark "How ate the kids?"

Dani giggled. Maddie is across from Dani making funny faces. Dani clears her throat.

Dani " oh they are okay. Still hurting."

Mark "Those poor kids. I would love if we can do a movie date at your house me, you, and the kids."

Maddie "Those are my kids!"

Dani "umm"

She looks at Maddie then at Mark.

Dani "yeah that sounds lovely."

Maddie smacks the glass off the table and on to Mark's lap.

Dani "Oh my, are you okay?"

Mark "yeah it's just water. I am gonna go clean up in the restroom."

Mark left to go to the restroom.

Dani whispered "What was that?"

Maddie "Those are my kids not his."

Dani "I know that calm down, no one is replacing you."

Maddie "I love them. I lost you, I don't want them forgetting me also."

Dani "They love you they will never forget you, I won't forget you either."

Mark starts walking back.

Maddie "I'll see you at home bye."
