"i'm sorry. I know that i should've told you that i feel that way, but it is hard to tell you, or anyone at that, that you are drowning but you can still breathe, or that you are on fire but you are going to freeze." I said.

" i know it's hard, Sam. If you don't tell anyone about it, it doesn't get better." Colby tried to comfort me; it didn't help though.

"Are we ever truly saved, though?" I said while nuzzling my nose into the crook of his neck; we were still hugging. "Yes and no. Yes because if you didn't succeed and you didn't try again, you were quote on quote, saved. No because if you had those thoughts in the first place, the memory and pain is forever there." Colby replied. He is so smart. I could never compare to him. We finally let go of each other.

"Sam, I'm asking the office to send you home. You need to think clearly, without school getting in the way." Colby said. "Come with me, please. I need you right about now." I said.

Colby's POV

"Come with me, please. I need you right about now." Sam's eyes were glistening. "I can try, they may not let me." I said. Sam smiled wide when I said this.

Sam and I walked up to the office. When we entered, the clerk automatically got up. A second later, she came back with the principal. "Colby, Sam" he nodded his head. "what do you need?" I hesitantly looked at Sam, sighed, and looked back at the principal. "Sam and I need to go home" He thought to himself for a second then understood what I mean. "okay. Sign here." he said, handing us the checkout form. We signed, than left the school. "I'll drive." Sam said. "I can come get my car later." I replied.

I had my eyes closed, my mind focused on the music. Suddenly, I hear a huge crash and I'm on the ground. My side was aching bad. I got up, wincing, and looked around. It looks like Sam had swerved and hit a tree. I fell out of the windshield. I limped over to the car to get a closer look. I saw Sam sprawled out on the floor in a pool of blood. Tears streamed through my eyes. "I can't lose him. He's all I have right now." I choked out loud. I immediately grabbed my phone from my front pocket and called 911.

911: This is 911 whats your emergency?

Me: Um... yeah me and my friend Sam Golbach were in a crash. He was driving. I don't know what happened. He's hurt.

911: we will track the phone call. We will dispatch ambulance now.
