Jackie straightened out his shirt and started wringing his hands. Anything to do was better than nothing at that point. He noticed his breathing was starting to quicken so he took a moment and calmed himself down. He could do this.

He had invited Marvin to lunch at a quiet café and he planned on confessing his feelings. Marvin was just so sweet yet self-deprecating at the same time. Jackie just wanted to cling onto him and never let go. The poor magician needed someone to protect him if he wouldn't protect himself. Marvin walked in the door and Jackie stood up to greet him.

"Hey, Marv! How are you?" His voice was a little shaky but he deemed it acceptable and gave a small smile.

"I'm good Jackie, what did you need me for? You seemed kind of nervous on the phone."

Oh crap, thought Jackieboy.

"Nothing much, just wanted to talk with the greatest magician of all time."

"Stop, you know I'm terrible at magic."

"You are not, you just tell yourself that now come on and sit down."

Marvin smiled his beautiful smile at Jackie and he felt his heart warm and fill with hope.

The lunch went well, nice conversation and goofing around. It was a good time to ask him, thought Jackie.

"Um, Marvin, I do actually have something I wanted to confess."

Marvin looked at him with concerned eyes. "Yeah?"

"Ithinkilikeyouandi'vebeenafraidtoafmitit." It came out in more of a jumble than he meant but he hoped Marvin understood anyways so he wouldn't have to say it again. Unfortunately, he did understand.

Marvin gave Jackie a startling look. He had a huge smile on his face but not the kind associated with true love but, more of a grim satisfaction a murderer gets after he has done his deed.

"Oh Jackie, that's exactly what I wanted to hear."
