Chapter1:first day of school

I wake up to the sound of my alarm ringing from my phone. You know how they are always saying if you put on your favorite song as your alarm ring you won't be annoyed.Well that's not the case for me.

I groan

I make myself get up from bed, take a shower, grab some leggings, a tee-shirt, and put on an oversized hoodie. I brush my teeth, go downstairs, and quickly eat cereal.

"Glad to see you've actually gotten up today" my mom teases me.
I playfully roll my eyes, "love you too mom" I say.
She smiles and kisses me on the cheek "hurry you don't want to be late on the first day, I have an early meeting today so lock the door on your way out. Have a good day, bye!"
"Bye mom!" I replied

Once I've finished my cereal I head out the door and put my worn and tired looking adidas on.

I walk to school because it's just a few blocks away, besides I could use the exercise.

I walk to my new locker and get settled in. I hear footsteps come behind me and I turn around to see a brunette green eyed boy. I swear we were so close I could feel his breath on my face. I shrink down a little bit and open a space between us. He seems lost in his thoughts, I just shrug it off and walk to my first class.

Okay here's the thing with me, i don't make friends well. It may sound weird ,but it's just I'm not a people person. I only have my two best friends. Jessica (prefers to be called Jessie because she claims Jessica is to girly) is one of my best friends. I met her in fourth grade and we just sorta clicked. You know? Anyways my second best friend Steve, he's cute and all. He's gay too. Jessie and I met him in seventh grade and we get along nicely. He came out this year and was really nervous at first but we supported him. I'm a really shy person and all, but when I'm with my friends I am CRAZY. Well at least that's what they say.

I'm off to lunch and try looking for my best friends, but they're nowhere to be found. I guess the had second or third lunch. I just go a slice of pizza, sat down at and empty table, and started to read To kill a mockingbird. I was actually enjoying myself when someone put their hand on my book. I looked up only to see the blond haired, annoying, and terrible Vanessa. I don't know why but she always hated me for some reason.

"If you talk to him or even think about him one more time you'll be sorry"

I stared at her confused "what are you talking about?" I asked

She rolled her eyes and started walking towards the jocks and her minions table.(By minions I mean soon to be preppy annoying cheerleaders who would do anything she said)

I did a good job ignoring her for the rest of day. After school I went to sit in the bleachers to do my homework and read a book. I don't why but I just like the outdoors, the fresh wind and the green grass. It just fascinated me.

Me: Hey guys, where y'all at??

Jess: at home w my lil bro, had to babysit him

Steve: in the gym watching basketball tryouts

Me: why??

Steve: because Hailey who would give up the chance to see boys running in shorts? Duh not me

Me: sometimes you weird me out Steve

Jess:where are you Hal's?

Me: sitting on the bleachers at school

Steve: watching boys run too?;)

Me: eww no, reading a book and texting you guys. Weirdo

Steve: mmkay sureee

I laughed and went back to my book. Football tryouts were going on right now.

Once I saw sweaty guys without shirts on come get their bags I realized I've been reading for and hour..... or maybe two.

"What book are you reading?"

I look up to see that same brunette boy, with his shirt off I could tell he was pretty muscular.wait...... what

"Oh umm..... To kill a mockingbird"

He smirks and shakes my hand. "I'm Caleb" he introduces himself.

I shake his hand back, confused why a guy like him is talking to a girl like me. I don't have a tank top and very SHORT shorts on. Why is he talking to me again? "Umm I'm Hailey" i say politely.

"Sorry about this morning, I was deep in thought"he chuckles.

"Oh umm no problem" I smile. Why do I keep saying "ummm"?

"Well, see you around Hailey" I nod and he slowly walks away.

I just sit there for I don't know how long. Minutes, hours, seconds?

I get up and walk home thinking about Caleb.
