This takes place in chapter nine. Ryoma's P.O.V. Kirumi isn't the Prime Minister yet.

Who am I kidding? Like she's ever going to like me. Probably only talks to me out of pity.

I walk to Kirumi's door, hope in my near dead heart and stiff in a suit. I trembled so much. Why? I used to do this all the time with..

I lightly knock on the door, signifying that I was here.

And I look up to see the most elegant beauty to ever grace this Earth.

"Good evening Ryoma. You look very handsome".

Her voice was so smooth. It almost calmed me. Kaede would probably say it'd be music to my ears, or something.

"You look great too, Kirumi" I hold my hand out for her to hold. Her earrings seemed to catch my attention while I admired her.

"Are those tennis rackets?" I point to her earrings.

She looks down to catch my eye. "Yes, Angie suggested we accessorize according to our dates. Emiko has butterflies in her hair, Tenko has spades as earrings, Maki is decorated with stars, etc. The girls have really outdone themselves".

"I hope it was just the girls. I don't exactly have an apron with me" I grin.

She giggled at the remark. It was rare sight, but it was refined and beautiful. Though I think she caught herself.

She cleared her throat. "That's quite fine Ryoma. You need not do anything for me".

I send off a smirk, telling her it's okay as we walked to the auditorium. Surprisingly, we were the first ones there.

"So, you nervous?" I asked.

"Perhaps, only slightly. I've only ever served food or helped out at these types of events, not attend as a guest".

"Well I'd say you fit right in" I wink. Okay that was too much, surely. She flashes a small smile. Well that's a good sign at least

Soon, everyone arrived and we were out on stage. Apart from everyone giving off weird looks about our height difference, our entrance was more than adequate I feel.

Huh.. she's already rubbing off on me already...

Annnnnd she was already handing out food and drinks.

"This is real sweet and all, but you should take a break every now and then. Have a bit of fun yourself" I explain.

"It is my duty to make sure everyone has an adequate time. Besides, the guests want to see a performance from each ultimate".

I study her up and down. Even with a gown she walked effortlessly with many trays.

"Alright, but promise you'll stop after the dance? I'd actually like to talk to my date" I asked. We both blushed at the request.

"I'll see what I can do. But just so you know, I do enjoy your company, Ryoma" she exclaims.

In the simplest way, she reasurres me, even without realizing. But the waiting for the dance phase felt longer than my damn sentance. I don't even like dancing, but seeing her drop everything to shuffle around with me in that silver dream of a dress?

It made all of this waiting worth it..

We reached each other in the middle of the dance floor.

She leaned down. "Are you ready?"

"As much as I can be" I give off a smirk.

I held her hip and her hand and suddenly we were dancing.

I can't ever imagine a time where I was smiling more. She was so insanely beautiful. But this whole dance was kind of awkward. I can't exactly help my height but I wish I could make things a little more comfortable for her. Unfortunately I think she seemed to sense that.

"Forgive me, Ryoma. But I want to try something" She asks.

I didn't even have time to respond. She scooped me up and suddenly I was at her eye level. She lead, but everything seemed to be pretty comforting considering the situation. Even for me. I couldn't help but put my head on her shoulder.

I don't deserve her. She deserves a king compared to me.

"Thanks for this".

I could feel her smile above me. "It is both a duty and an honour".

It's really cheesy, but it felt like flying. Literally and figuratively. I almost didn't want it to end. And neither could she, considering the music had faded out and so did her smile.

She still held me as the crowd erupted into applause.

We turn to see Gonta and Emiko kiss on the dance floor and suddenly I felt a rush and urge as to what I should do. As if my thoughts controlled my body, I placed my hand on her cheek and leaned in.

I kept my eyes on her "I know you say it's an honour to you, but really, the honour is mine".

I'm surprised she didn't drop me right then and there. She sunk in further into the kiss and held me tight. I was never going to let her go. I'm not going to fail anyone ever again this time.

I love her.

We finally lean back to look at each other.

"Was that okay?" I asked.

"It was far more than I could have ever imagine" she smiled warmly.

She set me down after everything but I still held her hand.

"I think I must now hold up my end of the promise" she smiled.

"I think you've got perfect timing" I answered back.

We walked around the auditorium. Our eyes never leaving each other's.

"So why do you never do anything for yourself? Sure you treat yourself somedays" I ask. She ponders for a moment before answering.

"I never had a reason to. My duty is to serve and to complete my objectives. However, I must admit I started to do just that when talking to you".

I smiled at her. "Honestly I'm glad. I know it's your talent but you don't deserve to get stepped on, or be treated like you're nothing. You put too much on yourself".

I stare back at the shocked Maid.

"My apologies. I'll start thinking of myself more on your request".

I grab both her hands. "No, don't do it for me. Please, do it for you. For your sake. I really like you Kirumi. I...I'd make sure you're okay..

You've... brought back meaning into my life, Kirumi".

We regard each other for a moment before Kirumi leaned down once more and hugged me.

"I've seen the life come back to your eyes when you talked to me. You have no idea how badly I've wanted you to say that. It would be an honour to love you, Ryoma".

We hug for a moment before talking the eventful night away. I may have lost a lot of things, but she will never be one of them.

I promise that.
