Guten Tag!

As Will Smith once said 'Parents Just Don't Understand'. Yeah, sometimes they really don't but now that I am a parent (pray for my poor baby boy...yikes) I have a bit more enlightenment on the strange beings known as parents and their habits. Come, children, gather around as I speak the truths of these oddly fascinating creatures.

They love you. Seriously. They love you.

They want the bet for you and sometimes that can blind them to what YOU want. They also like to think of you as mini thems and as a result they like to think they can undo their mistakes through you. They can't but damn it they are going to try.

Do they understand you? More than likely, no. It comes down to a mixture of generational gaps and the fact that as class of being as a whole, teenagers are weird. You sleep all the time, your crabby, all you do is eat, you tell them you don't want to talk then cry about how no one talks to you, your contradictory, your dramatic, your impulsive and most of all your scary.

Seriously, teenagers are scary to parents that up to this point you relied on. You needed them for everything and now you want freedom and independence? What the hell is wrong with you? Nothing. Your just growing up but mom and pop don't want to lose that little kid they used to cuddle and watch cartoons with.

I bet you a billion bucks they felt the same way about their parents as you do about them.

In conclusion: Cut them a bit of slack. They're trying, really they are trying to make you happy. Yelling at them only worries them more and makes them want to cling tighter to you. So my advice? Treat them like toddlers. Calm slow words are advised. Try to be honest with them as much as you can. They'll trust you way more if you don't hide shit from them.

NEXT TIME...*cue sad music*....OUTRO.
