Love is the reason she smiles when I tell silly jokes, and it's the fog that clouds my mind when I see it.
It's why she bugs me when she sees me frown until my smile is as wide as hers, and it's why my pupils dilate into freaking dinner plates every time I see her fawn over a puppy— which is every dog, by the way.
It's how lucky I am to hear her say "I love you" every morning and every night, religiously, until I finally can't deny her love for me like the little demon in my head tells me to.
It's what my heart swells and bursts with when I hug her and say goodbye before turning around and trying very very hard to not look like a creep when I smell my shirt— all while praying that it smells like her vanilla perfume.
Love is why my mouth spontaneously fills with cotton when I try to talk to her, muffling my words until I'm a stuttering, embarrassing mess— but she smiles, so I don't mind the fuzzy tingle left on my tongue when she leaves.
It's... It's when I lean in and kiss her, tasting her favorite strawberry lip balm as it burns its flavor into my mind and heart, and somehow forget each and every time that I'm terribly allergic to strawberries; I kiss her anyway.

This was just an assignment, but I liked the outcome despite the concise restrictions. I in no way consider myself a poet, but I think this was cute and accomplished the goal amply.
The picture in the 'chapter' was the visual I presented. It's a simple edit, so the picture that makes the background isn't mine but the picture itself is mine.
Please don't steal my poem :)
