I was moved into a permanent overnight room so that Doctor Aedan could keep an eye on me. In the meantime, nurses came in and out of my room. One of the nurses came in with a kit. I didn't want to find out what was in, but sadly the knowledge came to me when the nurse walked over and set the kit on a table next to my bed. "Can you please hold out your arm for me? I need to set you up for an IV." This immediately made my heart rate spike. If there is one thing that you must know about me, is the fact that I absolutely abhor anything to do with needles. I still went ahead and complied with the lady, sticking my arm out for her. She felt around on my arm flicking it, testing different veins, before she was 100% satisfied with one. She tied the band around my arm, and then proceeded to clean it with an alcohol pad. I squeezed my eyes shut, determined not to let a tear fall as I felt the needle quickly glide in. Soon the needle was pulled out, and I was left with the Intravenous line sticking out of the top of my hand. The nurse put away her tools, taped down the IV and then hooked me up to several different medications. The only one that I recognized was the saline drip.
Before long, I was left alone with my thoughts for friends. But I was not allowed much time with them, for I soon began to feel my eye lids grow heavier and heavier. Right before I my eye lids closed, Dr. Aedan also known as Doctor Hot walked into my room. "Hi Miss Lilly, how are you feeling?" I opened my mouth, and to my horror began to slur my words. "I'm exceedingly tired, and I am unsure why" is what I tried to say, but I am sure that it came out sounding something like a drunk woman who just stumbled out of the bar. I watched Dr. Aedan very carefully, he seemed to be mildly concerned that I was slurring my words. "Hmmm, this is very interesting indeed. You should not be presenting with symptoms such as these." he said in a rather friendly but concerning tone. Just then my eye lids shut as I was no longer able to fight this sudden drowsiness.
Dr. Aedan POV
I watched in horror as I saw Lilly's eyes close completely, and she went suddenly very limp and still. This was quite concerning to me. I walked over to the side of Lily's bed and placed the several electrodes on her body and hooked them up to the monitor. I watched as it began reading out Lilly's vitals to me. Her blood pressure was stable, and her heart rate was just as stable as her blood pressure. I racked my brain for answers as to what this could be symptoms of. Then it hit me, she was hit in the head, and then proceeded to hit her head on the pavement getting knocked unconscious. The symptoms finally began to click. She had a very severe form of a conconcussion. Just as the light bulb went of in my head, Lilly's muscles tensed and her back began arching as she began to shake uncontrollably. She was having a seizure. I immediately layed the bed flat, and threw the pillow out from under her head and then turning her on her side in order to keep her airway clear. "Push 500mg of Keppra stat" I exclaimed as her seizure continued. About 2 minutes later, her seizure stopped, but she remained unconscious. This was quite concerning to me. We kept her monitored hoping that she would come out of this state. I ordered head CTs hoping that something would be revealed.
2 days later
"Doctor Aedan?" a nurse questioned "yes? What is it?" , "your patient Miss Lilly, just woke up." This good news sparked my interest! She finally woke up after 2 days of being unconscious. I know that after a seizure that the body needs time to recover, but 2 days is too long. Something about this woman just wasn't adding up. There had to be something else going on. So with that, I pace walked to Lilly's room.
Lilly Pov
"Lilly?" I heard a voice. "Lilly can you open your eyes for me?" the sweet male voice continued. I sleepily mumbled an incoherent response. I kept my eyes shut not wanting to be pulled out of my blissful sleep. "Lilly, I really need you to open your eyes for me." the voice said again, this time with a little more concern. I grumbled a response again. My eyelids were so heavy, I didn't want to use energy to open them. That's when a cold hand was placed on my face and my eye lids were propped open and a light shined into them. "Pupils equal and reactive." the voice said. I shied away from the cold hand and finally mustered up my energy and popped open my eyes. "My apologies Lilly, I was afraid that you had suffered some kind of mental injury from the seizure you had." I blinked a few times, while my brain began to process things. My brain seemed to be sluggish today, I didn't really think anything of it in all honesty. I took another minute or so before I replied "Thank you for being concerned, but I can assure you that I am function normally. Though I must admit that I am quite tired." I looked up at Dr. Aedan and watch his face as a mix of surprise and worry washed over his face. "Dr. Aedan is everything alright?" I asked. "Umm, this is a bit surprising that you feel tired. If it is alright with you, I would like to preform a couple of quick tests just to make sure we are not missing anything." I replied immediately, "that would be .." I was cut off mid sentenced as my mind went completely blank. "Lilly?, Lilly?! Lilly are you there?"
