I woke up with a pounding headache, and a sore face. After about ten minutes of trying to go back to sleep, the memories from last night came flooding back.
I remembered Calum hitting me again, and how Ashton slept over, which brought me to my feet so i can check to see if he is still here, so i can drive him back to his car as planned.
I was still wearing what i had on yesterday so i quickly stripped off my clothes to find some new ones. I settled with a knit sweater and leggings since it was raining outside, and i wanted to keep warm.
I threw my hair in a bun, brushed my teeth, then walked towards the main room where he had slept.
"Hey," Ashton said as he sat up from the white couch he was previously sitting on. His hair was messy but still put together and he looked like he just spent hours getting ready, but in reality he probably just woke up.
"Hi," i said, my voice still raspy and sleepy. "I can take you back now if you're ready."
"Uhh ya sure thanks," he said following me outside. We both silently got into my car, listening to the only sound available, which was the rain. "Ashton I just want to thank you again for last night," I finally said, breaking the silence.
"I was just trying to help," he said, shrugging his shoulders. "Ya but no one has ever been that nice to me, not even Calum," I replied, starting the vehicle. "You aren't gonna stay with him Steph, right?"
I know he wont change, Calum will never care about me. But I don't know what to do, he's the only person I really have. "I uh, don't really know," I choked out, focusing on the road ahead.
"C'mon Steph!" Ashton started, "He's tearing you apart!" I could feel my tears well in my eyes, Ashton was right, Calum was tearing me down, every single day. "It's just that he's all I have, Calum is the only person who has ever cared about me, even if he doesn't anymore, everyone else just leaves." My voice cracked and before I knew it tears were streaming down my red cheeks.
Ashton wiped under my eyes with his thumb, "I wont leave you Stephanie, He replied.
Is this even real? I asked myself, how can there possible be someone who actually wants to stay?
He smiled as we pulled up to the now beat up house, covered in toilet paper. We both got out of my car, and then all of a sudden, Ashton wrapped his arms around me, and let me cling onto his torso tightly. Ashton kissed the top of my head, then got into his car.
"I put my number in your phone last night, so call if you need someone!" He yelled, out of the rolled down window, then drove off. What was I supposed to do now? Go home and wait till the time is right to end it with Calum? Or should I should I just get it over with right now?
"Stephanie!" The familiar voice rang through my ears, causing me to turn myself around. "Oh hi Luke," I spoke as the tired boy neared me. "Wheres Calum?" he asked, rubbing his temples, and fixing his hair. "Probably waking up next to a girl he just met," I replied, shrugging my shoulders, like it was nothing. I mean, I was used to it by now.
Luke was Calum's best friend, even though they were totally different. Luke is a softy, who enjoy's disney movies and puppy's. But Calum is always getting into fights, and partying every night.
"Ok well, I guess I'll see you later then," he said drowsily, stumbling back into the house that I was contemplating going into. What was I supposed to do, I'm a mess and probably not going to get any better unless I finally do something about it.
I kept going back to what Ashton had told me, so I finally stormed into that trashed house, without even knowing what I was doing. I grabbed a pot from a white cupboard and filled it with scolding hot water.
I carefully trudged up the stairs trying not to spill, and went straight into Calum's bedroom. And there he was fast asleep next some girl with bright red hair and smeared makeup all over her face.
I lifted the pot over top of both of them and slowly tipping it over, earning a shriek from both of them. "What the fuck Stephanie!" Calum yelled, before banging his head on the headboard. The hungover girl grabbed her clothes and ran out of the room as fast as she could.
"I'm fucking done with you Calum!" I yelled turning around, then out of nowhere Calum grabbed my wrist. "Fucking let go!" I yelled, but he only tightened his grip.
The last thing I saw was his fist coming closer, and closer to my face, and that is when everything went black.
