It was Christmas break, the long holiday season for everyone. So it was not strange if the park was full of people when Peter got there. Children were running around, either threw snowballs or made a snowman with their parents. Sometimes there were couples who was just sitting and looking at all the vibe that filling the air. Peter could only glance jealously at the kids. They were all so happy, so bright, and so lucky to have parents who would provide everything they needed. Meanwhile here Peter was, walking around the park alone, trying to find any quiet place for him to relax. This was not supposed to end like this. The last mission was supposed to end with all the Avengers joining the special dinner that Pepper intentionally made. But their fight was ruining everything, and even Peter felt bad for the team because they were not be able to try Pepper's special lasagna.
He sat down on the bench, near the lake that frozen. Somehow he saw parents and their kids skating around the frozen lake, hearing the kids told their parents to not let go the grip. Peter missed Uncle Ben so much. They used to do the same thing on every Christmas holiday. Well, Peter was not born in a wealthy family. So sometimes Ben and May needed to smartly use their money for something that was not on their priority lists such as taking their little boy to an expensive vacation. They used what they have and honestly, right now was the only thing Peter wanted to do. Ben would spare his extra money for every Christmas just so Peter could eat something better than the leftover meatloaf. Then he would take Peter to the park and taught him how to ice skating.
Peter learnt his first ice skating at the age of six and Ben purposely used his extra money to buy his little nephew a pair of ski boots. Peter still remembered what Ben said that day to him to spread his legs and bent down his body a little. Everyday until the Christmas Day, they would spend most of their times in the park to learn how to properly ice skating. Since Ben died, Peter lost a father figure in his life. Not until Tony came and made him comfortable to be around the billionaire. Peter felt comfort and trust whenever Tony was around. Ever since the man saved him from the robot attack on Stark Expo, Peter found himself to be the biggest fans over Tony Stark. When the inventor visited him and recruited Peter to fight along aside him, Peter thought his world could not get any better.
After everything he had been through, finally his happiness was paid off in the end. He got closer and closer with the billionaire. They often spent times together in Tony's private lab until F.R.I.D.A.Y had to remind them if Pepper wanted both of their existence to either eat dinner together or for Peter to go home soon if it was school's time. Everyday, Peter found something interesting about Tony that the media would never catch on, and that made Peter grew even more fond with Tony Stark. He was the one that served his breakfast every morning if Peter by any chance sleep overnight at the compound and could not come back to his home because it was past midnight. He was the one who made sure Peter was save on every of his mission by making the most advanced suit. He was the one who reminded Peter if he forgot to eat or bring his lunch to school.
So it was not technically Peter's fault if he thought of Tony as a father figure to him after he lost the closest person he had thought of a father. Peter would do anything to protect the man, and it seemed to him that Tony could not understand the phrase of love that Peter showed him. It was not different from that moment on Titans. Tony was furious when he found out that Peter was actually sneaking into the alien spaceship. It was not because he wanted to impress Tony, it was because Peter was afraid if anything happened to the billionaire genius, he was not near to help. Just like what happened to Uncle Ben. Peter tired seeing his family died because of him.
The surface of the lake was somehow refreshing, and Peter found himself comfortable sitting on the bench with people slowly starting to leave. He wondered to himself when was the last time he could be in a place as quiet as this? It had been a long time ago where everything was still fine, and he did not have the curse and the gift of being Spider-Man and chasing down bad guys. His phone was suddenly ringing and Peter could not bring himself into picking up the calls. He was not going to answer any calls, not even Aunt May could change his mind from doing so. When the second calls ringing, Peter peered over his phone who was inside the pocket. The brand new StarkPhone that Tony made specifically for him. The caller was written as 'Uncle Steve' and Peter sighed at the sight. Of course it would be the captain who called him not the genius of the generation, the one and only Tony Stark.
