Lydia's POV
As I sat on the bus, I thought about what was happening. I knew my mother was Divined, but I didn't know that it might pass on. When I was little, my mom told me all about it. She said that the Divined got their powers at sixteen. Neither of my brothers got powers at all when they turned sixteen, so I thought I was okay. Then my birthday came.
I woke up feeling weird. My mom was gone. Only my dad and my brothers were there. I asked them about her, and my dad turned to look at me. He had obviously been crying. I knew that it meant she was gone for good.
She had told me the day before that if anything happened, I needed to go by bus as close as I can get to the Blandorda building. To normal people, it's abandoned and old. To the Divined, however, it's headquarters.
That's where I am heading, because I am Divined.
The only things that I'm upset about is leaving my family without a note right after Mom disappeared, and about Tarren. I am glad that all of my family wasn't in the house when my powers surfaced for the first time. It was a full blast. The only things that survives were me, rubble, and a picture of my mom.
I took the picture and I knew I had to leave. I could already hear sirens coming my way. I started running and didn't stop until I got to the bus stop.
My destination was just over the hilltop and the bus slammed to a stop. After I picked myself up, I got off the bus and waited until it left. It did and I made the final mile to my new home on foot.
