you are worth being good forCLARY WALKED ALONG the beach, a soft smile on her lips, and her red curly hair was flapping in the wind behind her in a pony tail. She kicked at the sand, a sadness flashing through her because she didn't have her girls beside her.
"Hey!" A boy yelled from behind her, making her turn around quickly, her eyebrows raising when she saw the boy from about a week ago. "Clary, right?" He asked once he was a couple feet away from her, a wide grin on his face.
"Yeah." Clary nodded, looking up at him with narrowed eyes. She wasn't going to lie, she felt the physical connection towards him. It was as if the gravity wasn't holding her down anymore, but him. It weirded her out because she had never felt that way for anyone. "Paul... right?"
Paul's grin widened which seemed impossible because his grin was already wide to begin with. "Yes." He chuckled before clearing his throat. "I know we don't know eachother much, but I was wondering if you would come over to this hang out thing we're having over at a friend's place."
Clary hummed before shrugging. Afterall, she had nothing better to do other than try and keep away from Bella who kept questioning her about hybrids and other supernatural beings that exist. "Is there going to be food there?"
Paul chuckled and nodded his head. "Of course. Emily makes the best food around here. You will not find a person who makes better food."
"Then, yes, I'll come," Clary told him, grinning. Due to her being part wolf, she eats a lot of food. "Where is it?"
"Righ this way, malady." Paul held out a hand, but Clary just raises an amused eyebrow. "Okay, alright. Just follow me. It'll only be a ten minute walk from here."
"Lead the way." Clary trailed after him as he started walking into the woods.
WHEN THEY ARRIVED at Emily's, they saw the whole pack there, though, Clary didn't know they were a pack. But, deep down, much like the Cullen's, Clary knew something was up with them.
"You finally made it!" Seth, the cute little boy who had basically fell in love with Lizzie, shouted as he walked up to them. "Where's your friends?" He asked, the huge smile that he had on his was, had dimmed slightly due to not seeing the blonde beauty anywhere.
Clary frowned. "They had to go home," she said, putting it simply. She then sniffed the air, smelling burgers and bacon, making her stomach rumble. "I'm going to grab something to eat — I'm starving." She walked away from both the boys who then quickly got in a conversation about something that looked important.
Music was blasting threw speakers every where and people were dancing, smiling, and laughing. At the sight of everyone being happy, Clary grew sadder because she didn't have her best girls beside her.
She knew that if they were here with her, Lizzie would be out on that dance floor, causing mischief.
When Clary had grabbed a plate and piled two bacon burgers on it with a side of fries, she walked towards a bonfire that sat in the middle of all the fun. She sat down on a log and devoured her food, all the while, the boys and girls around her all watched with wide, surprised eyes. They had never seen a girl eat that much and that fast, especially a girl they knew wasn't a wolf.
Oh, how wrong they were, though. She was a wolf, a hybrid, something bigger and badder than them, and she came in a form of a five foot three girl with anger issues and flaming red hair.
"Damn, I've never seen a girl eat like that," Paul stated as he took a seat beside her, a smile on his face. "Are you still hungry? I brought you a plate." He handed her a plate that only had one burger and a handful of fries.
She looked at him as if she was offended. "You really don't know how to please a woman, do you?" She grabbed the burger and took a gigantic bite out of it.
"Well," he cleared his throat, "if I were to know you were going to eat like me, then, I would've brought you two plates full," He responded, looking at her fondness swimming around in his melted chocolate eyes.
Clary moaned and closed her eyes as she got a big taste of bacon. "You really know how to make one sentence sound so pleasing." She opened one eye when she heard him choke. "You alright?" She asked, though it was mumbled because all of the food that was in her mouth. She quickly swallowed and asked again. "You alright?"
Paul nodded, patting his chest. "Yes, I'm good." He was red in the cheeks, but she ignored that small fact and went back to eating her food, occasionally glancing over at him.
"Do you want to go for a walk?" Paul asked out of the blue, turning around to fully face her. She rose an eyebrow. "I want to talk to you and there's too many prying ears around here."
"As long as you don't try and murder me, then... sure," Clary enthusiastically said, standing up and slapped her hands together to get rid of all the crust that had come off of the fries.
"I would never hurt you," Paul said, very serious.
"Okay..." Clary trailed off, pursing her lips. She has heard many people say that exact sentence, but break it. She has gotten hurt one too many times to fall for anyone saying that sentence.
After walking a few minutes into the woods without anyone saying anything, Paul came to a stop, his back turned to her. "I have something to tell you... Something that may shock you."
"What is it?" Clary was an impatient person, so she was growing agitated the longer Paul said nothing, keeping his back turned to her. "Spit it out already," She demanded.
Paul sighed and turned around, something unreadable swimming around in his eyes. "My people... we have this thing, this uncontrollable thing that we do. We can never control when it is to happen and on who."
Clary crossed her arms. "What are you talking about, Paul?"
"It's called imprinting," He said, biting his lip. "It's basically soul mates... actually, it is soul mates." He took in a shaky breath. "It's so hard to describe. It's not like love at first sight, really. It's more like... gravity moves. When you see them, suddenly it's not the earth holding you here anymore." He kept eye contact with her. "She does. And nothing matters more than her. And you would do anything so her, be anything for her... You become whatever she needs you to be, whether that's a protector, a lover, or a friend, or a brother."
Clary furrowed her eyebrows, trying to process what he was saying to her and why. "So... you imprinted on someone?"
Paul nodded. "You."
Clary stumbled back, her eyes widening in shock. Her breath got caught in her throat. "No." She shook her head, not wanting to believe that she was bounded to someone.
Paul went to take a step forward, but Clary turned around and to his surprise, turned into a wolf, running away from him.
