Screams could be heard as the young woman let out cries of terror, a young man squeezed her hand, hope gleaming in his eyes. It was the the Bellwood's third try for a child, the last two had been stillbirths. Even with these tragic events in mind, the young, bright Veronica and the arrogant, narcissistic Chris would not give up in conceiving a child. That's all Veronica and Chris wanted, a child to care for and raise.

"You're doing well, just keep pushing." a doctor said, nurses and doctors were crowding around them, doing everything they could to make sure the birth was successful. Veronica was screaming, the pain was unbearable for her, Chris couldn't bear to see her in so much, he squeezed her hand gently. Suddenly, a loud and pain filled screech echoed through the small room, everything was silent for a moment as a doctor pushed past the crowd of doctors and nurses.

The doctor took one look at the newborn, his eyes sprung wide in terror, Veronica looked at the doctor, panic rising in her chest. "Is she dead?" she quietly asked, Chris went to her side and let Veronica's head rest on his shoulder. A nurse looked at Veronica and shook her head, "She's not dead but her critical condition is likely fatal." she said, the doctors had wrapped the newborn and had took the newborn away from the room as they spoke. Veronica let out a screech as they were exiting the room, "Let me see my baby!" she said, almost leaping out the bed.

A nurse spun around and pushed her down softly, "My baby! How could you take my baby away from me?" she screamed, a doctor went to her side. "You need to rest, try and get some sleep here, try and not think of your baby." the doctor smiled. "Things are looking bright so far for your newborn." she said, in a light tone. Veronica was furious, how could they be so cheerful when her baby could possibly die? The doctor stepped out the room as a nurse hooked up a IV to Veronica, who was feeling nauseous and whoozy, her eyelids started to shut.

Veronica was exhausted, from fear, panic, childbirth, she needed a rest, she couldn't bear to think of her child anymore, it hurt too much.

When Veronica woke up the light from the windows was blinding, she turned to her side to see the digital clock. It was 7:38 in the morning, there was still nurses around her but not as many as last night. Veronica looked to her right to see Chris sleeping on the chair next to her, Veronica heaved a breath. Was her baby dead? She never got to hold her, or see her, or touch her own child. Veronica closed her eyes, footsteps and the opening of the door could be heard. She opened her eyes slowly, "Mrs. Bellwood, I have some great news for you." she said, smiling.

Veronica recognized her, it was the idiot, cheerful doctor from yesterday, she gritted her teeth. "Your baby is a female we found out." Veronica smiled softly, she had given birth to a baby girl, Chris will be elated when he wakes up. "Your baby survived, after you recover from the birth, you can bring your baby home." she said, giving a warm smile. Veronica was ecstatic, her baby had survived, she was alive, she had a baby girl. The doctor's smile had formed into a frown, "Of course, we have some bad news as well." Veronica felt her heart race, her baby would be okay right?

"Your child seems to be born blinded. She can't see anything, we're sorry. She also is weak and fragile, she's very prone to injury and infection. We advise to take precautions for her." Veronica wasn't listening, all she could think about was the fact that her baby girl was blind. Veronica then started screaming, Chris quickly woke and started panicking, "What's wrong? Veronica!" he shouted. "She's can't see! She's blind!" she yelled, her heart beating as she screeched.

"What?" he said, his eyes full of panic as he tried to calm Veronica down. The doctor got up and pligged the IV back in, "I'm sorry, Mr. Bellwood, your child can't see, she's very prone to injury and illness. I recommend-" the doctor was cutoff by a nurse whispering something into her ear. The nurse handed a slip of paper, she turned her eyes to Veronica who was already passed out because of the IV. "Mr. Bellwood, what will you name your newborn?" she asked, handing him the birth certificate paper and a pen.

Chris thought for a moment as he thought back to when Veronica and him were discussing names for there child. He wrote the name down and then handed it to the doctor, she glanced at it and gave a smile, "Excellent choice Mr. Bellwood." the nurse handed Chris the birth certificate, he gave a soft smile. "Chris?" a faint whisper could be heard, "I named our baby girl." he said, handing her to birth certificate. Veronica gave a soft smile, "Autumn Bellwood." she echoed, "It's perfect."
