Keys turn against the lock and the engine shuts off. Five-inch heels click on the pavement as a six-digit code is entered into the security system. The doors unlock and the lights turn on.

Normani wrapped her arms around her girlfriend and kissed her softly on her bright pink pout. "Thank you for tonight," she said, referring to the five-star dinner and ensuing side-of-the-road car sex. It was kind of sick and twisted to be turned on seeing Normani act like a hero towards the kids in the hospital, but it was a long shot for Normani to express any sort of maternal qualities so Dinah made the most of it. And she made sure she knew she would be rewarded for it. Normani had always stated she never wanted to have kids because she was way too invested in soccer.

The couple walked up the steps with Dinah leading the way, and Normani behind her, firmly grabbing onto her ample ass cheeks. She couldn't wait to continue on where they left off. As much as it was spontaneous and sexy, her GT Mustang was not built to have sex in the backseat. She was imagining her woman sprawled across her king-size bed, when she ran right into her nearly knocking her down. Dinah had stopped in her tracks as soon as she saw the open door to Camila's room. In plain view, Y/n was spooned against Camila. They were fully clothed and atop the covers so it was evident that nothing more had happened. In spite of the obvious innocence of the situation, Dinah's protective-best friend mode kicked in and she bounded for the room. Normani quickly grabbed her by her arms and pulled her back against her chest.

"We'll deal with it tomorrow."

The sound of birds chirping outside stirred Y/n from her slumber. Her left arm was sore and her body felt warmer than usual. She groaned as she tried to move out of this position, but silenced herself when she realized she wasn't alone in her bed. Camila was nestled against her body; her brown hair wildly splayed across her chest. Momentarily, she glanced down to observe her sleeping frame. She looked so comfortable, so at peace. She could've sworn the curve of her lips formed a smile on her face.

Y/n tugged gently under her body to free her left arm, replacing that missing comfort with a blanket to sheath her little body. Y/n stopped herself before her gut told her to plant a kiss on her forehead. She got up off the bed and walked towards the door. With one last look in her direction, she gently pulled on the knob and left her to sleep the rest of the morning.

Y/n tiptoed down the stairs and passed through the kitchen to make her way out to the pool house. She stopped in her tracks when she heard someone clearing their throat. She turned on her heel and faced the woman seated at the stool. She was dressed in a silk robe and sat with a cup of piping hot tea.

"Dinah," she acknowledged.

"Gonzalez."

"I was just heading back to my room," she tried to explain, sounding more defensive than she would have liked.

"From my practically sister's bed?"

"It's not what it looks like," sighed Y/n. Her broad shoulders slumped forward and her throat felt dry. "She was crying and I heard her and I had to do what I could to comfort her."

Dinah shook her head disapprovingly, "That isn't your job, Gonzalez." She paused, and stood up and began to pace in a single line. Dinah felt angry at the thought of her best friend hurting and not understanding the situation well enough to be there for her. Why couldn't she just open up? They never kept anything from each other. Regardless, she knew that Y/n wasn't the type of person Camila needed to fill in that void in her life. She knew Shawn and Camila and the genuine love and trust they had for each other; whatever it was, they would move past it. "She doesn't need you confusing her when she should be focusing on working things out with Shawn."
