Going Back Home

"Hey, wake up!" I hear a very muffled voice and shift, curling into myself further. I begin to fall back asleep when I'm shook again. I mumble out a groan, wishing to be left alone so can go back to sleep.

"Hey, you need to wake up," I'm shook more violently and the voice is clearer this time causing my to open my eyes only to sit them again. It was bright. Way to bright for my liking. I hated it.

"Nono no, don't go back to sleep. Open your eyes and get up. I need you to get up."

I groan and open my eyes the time prepared for the light as I cover my eyes with one hand. Then I realize how cold it is. I'm not in my room.

"Where am I," I mumble and go to sit up

"Fuck, my back. Where the hell am I" I ask again and groan, rubbing my back as I sit up, looking around with my eyes squinted against the sun. There's trees all around me and I can see tall builds near by.

"Um your in the park, on a slide I was walking my dog and saw you here. I thought you were dead at first. Do you need any help" I look up, eyes still squinting and look at the person standing on the stair and then down the stairs to where a dog is.

"Oh, can I pet your dog?" I ask looking up at the girl. She raises her eyebrows at me and then looks down at her dog.

"...you want..to pet my dog.?" She questions with wide eyes. Great she probably thinks I'm a crackhead.

"Sorry, is a very cute dog." I answer feeling around me to make sure everything's there. I find my phone and turn it on to look at the time. It's 6:43 in the morning. Looking around again I turn my phone back on and look at the date. The 24th. Shit I got to get home. I start grabbing my bags and looking for my coffee, looking down the slide I see it spilled at the bottom. That lil'shit spilled.

"Hey!, are you okay? Do you need help getting up? Why are you out here? Did you sle-"listen I know you are trying to be worried but don't bother questioning it, I'm fine, I came here last night and ended up falling asleep it's no big deal. No if you excuse me, and don't get me wrong I do really appreciate everything you are doing, but can you get down so I can leave?", I cut her off waving my hand for her to go down

She nods vigorously and steps down slowly and I follow when I'm able to go without stepping on her.

Once I get down I turn to her, my bags in hand I walk around the slide and pick up the coffee cup.

"Stupid piece of shit." I curse at the moist ground where the coffee was absorbed.

"Hey, do you want me to buy you coffee, it's cold out you should probably go home and warm up." I turn around at the sound of a voice and look at the girl again,

"Yeah, probably a good idea" I turn around and walk away

I hear footsteps behind me a rustling.

"Do you want me to walk you home? Or at least out of the park. I want to make sure you are okay" I stop and turn to look at the girl then the dog.

"Sure, but only till we get out of the park," turning back around I start walking again

"What's your dog's name" I ask, she walks up beside me and I look to my right.

"His name is Gizmo, he's a jack Russell and is turning three on the 30th" she replies smiling at me.

"That neat, what's your name" I question again giving a small smile back

"Oh, I'm Nicole. What's your name?"

I'm Audrey, nice to meet you" I smile kindly and hold out my hand

"Wish we didn't have to meet with you thinking there was a dead person at the playground" she laughs and takes my hand shaking it.

"I'm serious, I almost called the police." We approach the park entrance and I stop to turn to Nicole.

"Well, Nicole, it was fun talking to you, but I have to go." I crouch down to Her dog and pet his head

"And it was nice to meet you to, Gizmo." He wags his tail at the attention and sticks his younger out a but.

"Hopefully we get to see each other again, Audrey. You seem nice" I stand up and look at her.

"Maybe, bye Nicole. Bye Gizmo" I wave my hand as I walk away.

I hear her shout bye behind me before she yells for Gizmo to hurry home.

I walk down the slight hill out of the park and pull out my phone again. My battery was at 9% and I had spammed notifications from my mom and dad. Opening messages I scroll through them, most being concerned respond back text and some threats. I finally decide with a response that would calm the fire for now and type it out, making sure to not mess anything up to make it worse.

"Sorry for worrying you, I woke up early and decided to go out to get some stuff from the store. On way home now. If you want anything while I'm out let me know. Sorry again, I'll be home in a bit."

She views the message immediately and responds quickly

"I don't want anything, get home fast you scared me so much Audrey. Why wouldn't you respond I thought something happened to you" frowning I scan the area before walking towards the bus stop and sitting down.

"I'm sorry, I saw Autumn out and we were talking. I didn't mean to worry you, I promise I'm safe. I'm waiting for the bus now. I forgot to leave a note. I'll be home in a bit sorry again" not even a minute late she responds

"Okay, please be careful, I have to go to the store quick but once you get home get ready to go to your grandmother, the Christmas party is in 3 hours and we are leaving early to help set up. I love you, call me when you get home. Dads at work but I'll let him know your fine. We will talk about this later though. Be safe taking the bus. Love you." I pull my sweater over my mouth and smile, she's so nice, I love her so much.

"Okay I will, love you to"

I see the bus pulling and and stand up. I get on the bus and pay the due with the little money I have left before sitting down and looking out the windows. Today is going to be fun.
