The accident took Youtube by storm. All people could talk about was how Alex Elmslie had gotten into a car crash.

Fans had waited eagerly for Alex to post about his condition on YouTube or something, but he was radio silent. 4 months and nothing had been said. People asked George about Alex's condition but out of respect he said nothing about it.

Alex Elmslie was alive, the only problem was..

He was mute.

The car crash had damaged his voice box leading him to be unable to speak. No matter how hard, no matter how many times he tried, no matter how many tears he shed his voice could not be heard, not a sound came from him.

Alex Elmslie, 19 was now officially mute.

A simple tweet broke his fan base and soon enough he lost many fans, well he understood why.

ImAllex:
I'm sincerely sorry for the lack of updates. Well 4 months ago I got into an accident and ended up damaging my voice box. I can no longer speak at all, sorry. Youtube doesn't really have much for me with my disability now, so I guess I'm taking a break
til I can find someway to make videos. Love you all, thanks for the support 💜

So now what? Youtube was all he had. Alex has nothing. He wouldn't be able to pay rent, he wouldn't be able to go on podcasts, he had nothing.

Well until you.

Your job was to help deaf and mute people learn and function using sign language. You were officially hired 2 months after Alex's twitter post by Will, a friend of Alex.
So over 8 months you taught Alex sign language and helped him function. But one particular day he wasn't so great..

it was around 3am  when you got a call.

Alex Elmslie the screen read, as the phone buzzed the familiar tone of "Tear In My Heart", a song Alex played to you which you fell in love with.

'A call?' You questioned reaching for your phone. On the 6th ring you answered.

"Alex?"
Silence fell on the other line, which didn't shock you much.

So you stayed silent, as did he. Eventually he hung up and immediately after a text was sent to your phone.

Alex Elmslie: I cant sleep. It's one of those days where I forgot I can't speak, it hurts.

You: I wish I could help you speak Alex but.. look so you want me to come over? You can tell me what's happening.

Alex Elmslie: yes please.

You got up and changed into a plain shirt and shorts and left as fast as you could.

Alex opened his door straight away, as soon as you sent a text.

He invited you Inside and got right to the chase.

Alex held a piece of paper and handed it to you. It was clear that he'd had it for a while as places were torn on the page and it was scrunched and stained.

The paper read:

4/5/18

I've been in hospital for a week. At this point I didn't care about the bruises and cuts, I cared about my voice, that's now gone apparently forever.
I'll never forget the way the doctor told me
"So you can't speak, damage to your voice and
Stuff, sorry but there's nothing we can do"
The prick didn't care!
But then as I thought about it more it kicked in and I realised what I was going to lose. Youtube was the only thing I had, now I didn't have a voice I didn't have anything to live for, no way of making  money, nothing.
George, Will, Stephen, and James assured me that they'll be by my side and help me, doubt it. Eventually they'll get sick of me being mute and not being able to pay rent or help them much, I know it. I'm thinking of hiring someone to help me out, just to help me function.
I'm hoping I can make videos again but have someone speak for me? It's stupid but it's all I have at this point to help me.
I got told nothing will help me speak again, not even a miracle. A part of me hoped that a miracle would happen and it would be okay again but fuck this, happy endings are rare.
Well anyway, I'm done.
Chances are I'll get depressed and hang myself which I'm hoping happens soon, I can't live like this.
Cya,
Alex.

The boy watched me finish the letter and stared into my eyes.
He then lifted up his hands and signed-

I can't live like this

It was a bit muddled up but I figured it out.

Before I could speak he began again-

The only good thing in this world is YOU

I love you
