Amilas POV

I couldn't stop thinking about what had happened last night; the kiss, the emotions, the trust that suddenly grew. It was distracting me from forth hour algebra. Then I was pulled out of my thoughts when the teacher called on me.

"Amila? I asked if you knew the answer to this problem"

She says, pointing at nonsense on the board.

"Uhh..." My anxiety kicked in as everyone turned to look back at me. Nobody I knew was in this class, which made it worse."

"I uh" I stuttered as my eyes closed tightly, I pulled my sleeves up over my hands and covered my face.

"I don't... I don't know it." I mumbled.

"Then you need to pay attention." The teacher said sternly, making me feel dumb. I didn't reply, so she continued to say gibberish that everyone else understood. I.hate.math.

Finally, the bell rang and we emptied out of class and towards lunch. As I walked down the hall, I saw hayes come out of a tenth grade class with... Well.... A girl. Her hair was long and blond, her eyes were gorgeous blue, millions of tons better than me. they were close, and it hurt. He was talking to her, looking into her eyes as they walked. I should've known better. God why am I so dumb?!

I started to speed walk down the hall to the lunch room downstairs so I didn't have to watch as my chest hurt.

"Hey amila!" Hayes says while catching up to me, the girl still by his side. He's already found a knew girlfriend and he's still trying to lead me on.

"Hayes, please don't."

I say, keeping my eyes forward. That girl is just fucking following.

"Woah, what's wrong? "

He asks confused. I'd have to give him props for his acting.

"Well,"

I say stopping and turning to him. "You broke your promise."

I say, looking into his eyes feeling hurt. The girl just stands beside him confused.

"What? How?"

He says while looking at the girl beside him, her looking back at him. Are you joking? We're far from the stupid act.

I just glance at her, she notices.

"Oh oh no you've got it all wrong" hayes chuckles while shoving her hard, her doing it back.

Alright now I'm super confused. I make a questioning expression on my face.

"She's like ..... A best friend haha, we're not a thing" he says, cringing is face.

"Oh god ew"

She says, covering her face.

"Wow, well I'm sorry, I'm embarrassed now" I say while turning around and entering the glass doors to the lunch room.

They follow while hayes stops me by grabbing my shoulder.

"Don't be embarrassed amila , I can see how it looked. "

He says looking down at me with a smirk. I look down and blush hard.

The girl walks up with a huge smile on her face.

"Hi! We got of on the wrong foot, I'm madi " she says with a big smile while extending her hand out to mine. I gently shake it.
