Deputy Ceremony

This ceremony is used when a Clan leader names the Clan's new deputy, which can occur on three occasions: when the Clan's deputy has died; when the Clan's deputy has chosen to retire to the elders' den; or when the Clan's leader has died, making the current deputy their leader.

According to the warrior code, a new deputy must be appointed before moonhigh following any of these three events. Neglect of this rule, such as when Bluestar refused to appoint Fireheart as her new deputy after Tigerclaw's exile until the following day, may be seen as a bad omen of the cat appointed to the position.

If the deputy has retired or become leader:

Clan Leader: "I say these words before StarClan, so that the spirits of our warrior ancestors may hear and approve of my choice. _(warrior's name)_ will be the new deputy of ___Clan."

If the deputy has died:

Clan Leader: "I say these words before StarClan, so that the spirit of _(former deputy's name)_ may hear and approve of my choice. _(warrior's name)_ will be the new deputy of ___Clan."
