Marlene, Uriah, Christina, Lynn, and I led the initiates away from the net. The transfers huddle together in a tight group, where the Dauntless-born laughed, talked, and shoved each other around playfully.
Christina did most of the talking. My job was to just stand there and looked scary. I took out the six inch dagger on my belt and started cleaning it with a cloth. The initiates slowly backed a few inches away from me. I do my job very well.
"This where we split you little punks into groups," Christina said as she led us towards the pit. She didn't look over her shoulder as she talked. "Dauntless-borns will be with Uriah, Marlene, and Lynn." Lynn grinned wickedly at that. "Try not to kill each each other too badly. Don't count on any of your instructors to protect you. Transfers, follow me."
The Dauntless borns broke off and started following the other three instructors elsewhere. I kept pace with Christina, the transfers following closely behind us. "My name is Christina, and this is Six. You will be-"
She is cut of the by a scrawny looking Candor. I didn't like him immediately.
That isn't a good thing.
For him.
"What, like the number? What kind of name is that?"
I saw Tobias roll his eyes.
I glanced at Christina out of the corner of my eye and saw her smirk. "Stop," she said, barely loud enough for everyone to hear.
I swiveled around and calmly walked through the group of transfers, eyeing them up like a pretador after it's pray. They parted for me until I stopped I front of the Candor kid.
"What's your name?" I asked coldly and quietly.
"Trevor." He appeared slightly shaken.
"Well, nice to meet you, Trevor. I'm Six, as you just heard Christina say. Or... did you have a problem with that?
"Well, I just thought that Six was a number, not a name."
I raised an eyebrow. "Well, now it's a name. My name. And in the future, I suggest you keep your trap shut if you want to survive in this place. I can garrentee you, there are people here who will try their hardest to make your life a living hell. You're just lucky I'm not one of those people. So, are we clear?"
He noded frantically.
"Great. I'll see you in training, Trevor." I turned around and stalked back to Christina's side, still cleaning my blade.
"Geez. Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed," I heard him mutter.
I had barely turned around when my knife was sailing straight through the air before impaling itself in the stone wall. Less than two centemeters from Trevor's face.
I calmly walked over to him, grabbed hold of my knife, and yanked it from the wall. He stood stock still, completely ridged. I placed the tip of my dagger against his throat, pinning him against the wall. He began to shake.
"You need to learn to keep that big mouth of yours closed. If you can't, there will be consequences. Capiché?"
He could barely nod. A small squeaking sound came out of his mouth.
I took my knife away from his neck and strode back over to Christina. No one said a word.
"Right, so you guys will be sharing a dormitory and a bathroom. Before you ask, yes, girls and boys. Don't complain if you don't like it or you'll have Six to deal with," Christina said, continuing along as if nothing had happened. I grinned at her comment. "You will report at exactly 8:00 every morning to the training room. We will train you in combat and self-defense until lunch at 12:00. There will be more training until dinner at 5:00. After dinner you are free to do what ever you want. We strongly advise that you return to your room and go to bed by at least 11:00."
