When my mother and I arrived at the apartment, Abdullah was so shocked to see us. He wrinkled his brows as if to ask me to explain what was going on but I was too scared to even clear my throat.

"Good eve..."  He wanted greeting my mother but she yelled at him not to.

"Just hold your greetings, I don't need it!" She angrily uttered. "What's wrong with you, Abdullahi? Just tell me what's wrong with you that you can't stop hurting my daughter!"

His eyes turned to me, looking me with so much hatred that if only his gaze were a knife, I might have been stabbed mortally. I couldn't stand his gaze so I lowered my head down and began fidgeting my fingers.

"I thought what she did that night was to save your life, or wasn't it?" My mother continued. "Do you even know what it takes to make such sacrifice? Do you even know that if not for her, you wouldn't be standing here? How dare you!"

Indeed what I did on the night of the unfortunate event was saving Abdullah's life from those bastards that broke into our house but he took it all wrong, how cruel was he to look down on me and rain curses on my head for what I did!

When the robbers came, we gave them all the money we had at hand which wasn't even up to N30k. They became so furious and threatened to hurt us badly if we don't give them more. At last they gave us two options, for Abdullah to be killed or for me to be slept with.

The two options they gave us were immense, Abdullah asked me not to give them my body even after he was beaten to the point of having a broken nose and mouth but I was so scared and didn't want to lose him so I opted to give them my body against his wish.

Hopefully, only one of them slept with me but it was very painful the fact that he did it anally. He said he wanted me to feel great pain, and as soon as he was done he flung me to the floor and zipped his trouser. "Man, your wife is as sweet as apple!" He had said while beaming at Abdullah. "If I should have a wife like her," He paused and turned towards me while biting his lip. "I would fuck her everyday, every time... until forever" He scoffed and then left with his colleagues.

I thought Abdullah would thank me for saving his life but I was only wishfully thinking. He had only glared at me and left the living room to our room. Thus, I grabbed my pant which was by my side and gently wore it with a sniff. I was actually in my nightgown throughout the event and my body wasn't exposed.

Since that night, things changed miraculously between me and Abdullah. I talked to my mother about it but she told me to be patient. She kept telling me to be patient that sooner or later he would understand but things kept getting worst, that was why I decided he should be talked to... and now things weren't going as I wanted.

"Don't you think what you are doing is unfair? Only few women would do what she did. Be thankful she saved your life that night, just be thankful and stop causing her pain!" My mother yelled at him again. I tried to calm her down but she shushed me and continued. "I don't want to ever hear my daughter complaining again" She said with an air of finality and left. I wanted escorting her to the gate but Abdullah's intense gaze on me couldn't let me move an inch.

"Since when did you start disclosing our family matters to your mother?" He asked angrily and proceeded without waiting for my reply. "Is this really how you want to fix our relationship?"

"I am sorry Abdullah, I am so sorr..." I said as he cut in.

"Don't you dare do that again, ever!" He warned me.

"Okay" I nodded in acknowledgement.

"Good, now get out of my sight!" He ordered.

Thus, I quietly returned back to my room. I wished not to see his anger ever again. I would try my best to keep enduring his ill treatments towards me, I would also keep praying until God Almighty see me through. Maybe things might return back to normal soon, maybe we would be back to our normal life again but wasn't I wishfully thinking? Sometimes I used to wonder how people change overnight, same people that promised heaven for us and also promised to be with us no matter the situation life throws us at. I mean, why would such people even change after all the promises? Well I guess the love wasn't real at first and now I know why many people don't believe in true love, does it even exist? If it does then I doubt if the love Abdullah had for me was real even though he was truthful to me at the beginning!
