"I seek refuge in the perfect Words of Allah from every devil and every beast, and from every envious blameworthy eyes". - Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W)

...

While flashing back the previous day's event in my mind, I shook my head with a bitter smile. I thought Abdullah had changed but I was so wrong. By Allah, he nearly crushed me yesterday. I wondered what kind of beast he turned himself into. Why would he be so cruel? Just because I saved his life? We now lived like strangers. We neither eat together, nor share thesame bed. Infact, if I mistakenly brushed any part of my body with his he'd just slap me. Thus, as a teacher he disliked going to work late, for that reason I would wake up as early as possible to fix everything for him but he never appreciate it.

Abdullah didn't want me to have a government job, it was something he made clear to me before we even got married. I was a Degree holder and he was an HND holder. He said I was too beautiful and erotic, and that my bosses would likely not let me be. He wanted me to start a big business instead, just like my father... an oil business man, but mine shouldn't be oil. I gave his idea a nod without even thinking twice because I loved him so much!

When we got married, I decided to open a grocery store with the capital rendered to me by my dad. And Alhamdulillah, it turned out to be successful. Infact, I started getting lot of customers in just a week of opening. It was Allah's doing!

I also wanted to further my education even though none of my certificates would be of use to me, but Abdullah didn't approve it too. You see, my major problem with him even before we got married was he disliked seeing people progressing more than him. Even the Degree I obtained he'd always compare it with his HND... that they are thesame, or that HND supposed to be more powerful, this and that. What a bad habit, it's not good!

While going through the record book in my little office, I stumbled across something that got me baffled. I quickly yelled at one of my employees to come in, and Immediately she was in my office I gave her a weird look.

"I know my husband has been coming here to take things like soft drinks Ajoke, which you used to indicate in the record book, but just right now I noticed two cartons of Hungry_Man indomie has been stroke too. Don't tell me he was the one that ask for..." I said halfway as she quickly intruded,

"He was the one Ma. He came here and asked for it three hours before you arrived. I thought you were the one that sent him" she quietly said while playing with her finger, her gaze lowered; afraid to look at me in the eyes.

I heaved a huge sigh, falling into a deep thought as I rested my back on the swivel chair's back_rest...

What would Abdullah do with two cartons of indomie for God's sake? I thought. I was not even worry about the money, but atleast as the owner of the grocery store Abdullah ought to be asking for my permission before taking anything!

"I... I'm so sorry Ma" Ajoke continued, "I should have called and ask you first, but..."

"No, It's okey Ajoke" I blurted out, adjusting my sitting position. "It's just that I'm wondering where..."

Knock!

Knock!!

Knock!!!

"Check who's there" I ordered.

"Okey Ma" Ajoke responded and quickly walked to the door.

"Please tell Madam her friend, Safiyah, is here and wants to see her".

I heard Ladidi apprised to Ajoke slowly through the door.

"Okey, I will" Ajoke said as she gently closed the door. Thus, she turned and looked at me. "Ma, It's Ladidi. She said..."

"I heard everything Ajoke" I intruded, moving the swivel chair with my legs slowly. "Go and tell Safiyah to come in. I don't have much time here".

"Okey Ma" Ajoke uttered and left in haste. She was my best employee so far and, she had been with me from the early days. I ranked her ahead of the rest. They were five in number.

Safiyah Salaamed before bouncing in. I responded with a cheerful smile while adjusting my sitting position. It had been days since we set our eyes on eachother.

"Tell me you don't want me here and I will leave". She teased with a smile, sitting in one of the clients' chairs. "Oh God, I miss this office!".

"You're not serious Safiyah, I hope you're not high?" I smirked.

"High? As in..." She gulped squeezing her face. "Taking some shit?".

I smirked at her with a nod.

She roared. "You, my friend, are not serious at all. Like seriously? Well thank God you're selling high things here, I need to go more high!".

I kept smirking, forgetting all my problems. We loved teasing eachother. We were good at that.

"Abegy, I don't sell high things here o. Go to Kayode's shop. You will get lots of what you need this moment". I teased again, giggling.

"Ahh! Oya, jokes aside. How have you been?" She asked, looking at me closely. "I hope you're fine? I hope everything is okey?".

I heaved a sigh, my problems reviving. "I'm fine dear, everything is okey". I pretended, not wanting to talk beyond boundary, I had been warned.

"Oh, come on! Your face says otherwise. Look at your cheeks, your eyes..." She protested, staring at me. "My sister, nothing is okey".

I gulped, mustering more courage to be strong. I wanted hiding everything from her but, she had gotten me. She knew I wasn't okey.

"Balqis please don't try to hide anything from me, I'm your friend". She slowly moved her hands towards mine on the table. She held them warmly. "Remember my timely advises during those da..."

"Please don't remind me about the past" I managed to say, with tears gathering in my eyes. "Its hurts to remember".

"It's okey my friend. It's just that you have been okey even after that, but now you're looking different..."

"I ought to!" I blurted out, breaking down completely. And before I knew it, I was already telling her everything...
