two-year-old mark lee woke up to the sound of a baby crying.
he got out of bed and pressed his ear against the wall.
"Is that.. a baby?"
he jumped up and down excitedly and dashed to his mother's room.
his mom, lee yena, had been waiting for him to come.
mark hugged his sleeping brother gently and booped his nose.
"what's his name, mommy?"
"donghyuck, sweetie. lee donghyuck."
"he's so cute.." mark whispered, gently stroking his little brother's soft cheeks with his thumb.
"he sure is, just like you." yena said, smiling at mark.
"but he doesn't look like me..?" Mark asked, confused. He looked at the mirror, then back at Donghyuck.
"do not worry about that, you two may not look alike, but you're still related, okay?"
"okay mommy, whatever you say."
"would you like to hold donghyuckie?"
"yes!"
mommy lee handed the baby to her son, who carefully scooped him up in his arms and smiled at him cutely.
"promise to always protect hyuckie?"
"i promise, mommy."
"promise to care for him and love him?"
"i will, mommy."
"but don't love him too much."
"why?"
"It's bad to love the same gender too much, and it's also bad to love your family members more than it is safe."
mark nodded. though, he never thought loving anyone too much was a bad thing.
