n°12 - get out

mark was released from the hospital after two days. the cut on his forehead was completely healed, and his broken arm was put in a cast.

those damages might've been fixed,

but his memory was not, nor did the doctors believe that it would come back any time soon.

doyoung called taeil on the way home from mcdonald's, where taeyong had treated both him and mark to a hearty, totally fresh meal.

" hey taeil. so many things have happened in the past three days.. and i need someone to talk to. "

" okay. wanna come over to my house and get dinner at like, five in the afternoon? "

" yes. that will work. "

" great. "

" all of it has to do with mark lee, and i need to bring him with me later as well. it's related to his memory, and i'm his new parent, i guess. "

doyoung heard taeil spit out what he assumed was coffee on the other line.

" o-oh, really? that's worrying.. explains why he was absent yesterday. "

taeil was choking.

" are you okay? "

" never better! "

" uh-huh. i-i'll leave you to your principal duties. drink water, taeil. bye. "

doyoung hung up with perplexed look on his face.

that was weird.

at kcuyhkram, taeil was busy talking to the troublemakers, norenmin, in his office.

"you guys were held back because of your unacceptable behavior. i don't want to see you three hanging out with each other anymore. you're never going to get anywhere in life by staying with each other."

"but principal moon! they're my boyf- i mean, friends!" jeno reasoned.

"friends aren't supposed to push each other down, they are supposed to boost each other up."

the three never usually showed their emotions, because it was 'soft' and 'unmanly'.

but they couldn't hide their tears, now.

"no taeil, please. we want to stay together." renjun begged.

jaemin nodded, eyes tearful. "you can't separate us! please.."

jeno, who was sitting in between the two males, brought them in closer and kissed each of them on the forehead.

taeil raised an eyebrow at this, and he was starting to think that there was more to this relationship than being 'just friends.'

"i don't mean to be nosy but," the principal started, clearing his throat, "are all of you.. dating, perhaps?"

the three exchanged the same nervous glances, and renjun shook his head when jaemin made an X with his arms.

however, jeno did not hesitate to tell taeil at all.

"principal moon, you are correct."

taeil rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. "i'm not surprised at all."

silence filled the room.

"can we leave now?" jaemin yawned. "we're gay, big deal. and we are staying together."

the principal was about to dismiss them, but a certain scene that took place a few years ago came into mind.

"wait. remember that one time you bullied lee donghyuck for being gay?"

each person in the trio had a different reaction to that.

renjun had put his head down, nodding with a guilty expression.

jeno pursed his lips and his eyes widened.

jaemin shook his head, shrugging. "what're you talking about?"

taeil sighed and played the clip of them recording the two brothers.

" oh shit! look at that, jeno! record that! "

renjun grimaced at the sound of his own voice.

" is that who i think it is? marcrap and dingus? "

jeno looked away, recalling the words coming out of his immature, pubescent younger self.

" well dang! watch them get expelled tomorrow after we show moony. oo look marcrap is blushing!! "

jaemin laughed and nudged jeno's arm jokingly, wiggling his eyebrows while trying to stifle a laugh.

jeno and renjun both looked at him with poker faces because they were actually handling this situation seriously.

taeil glared at jaemin, getting an eye roll in return.

the clip ended with the three giggling as they ran towards the school.

"now, look at yourselves." principal moon said in almost an angry-mom sort of way, making them jump in their seats.

"w-we're sorry-" renjun mumbled.

"don't tell me that! apologize to both mark and donghyuck the next time you see them."

the two oldest nodded obediently, but it took the youngest a few minutes before finally agreeing.

"something happened to mark, and i think it might be severe. if you guys can help him get back on schedule for the rest of the week, i'll finally let you graduate and pass high school."

they all let out sighs of relief.

taeil chuckled, "i've been sick of seeing the same three faces in my office everyday, you know."

renjun gave him a thumbs up. he was probably the one who changed the most in the past few years, and his sister, wendy, was proud of him.

"okay. get out." taeil said sternly.

as soon as they left, he sat down at his desk chair, massaging his temples.

mark was coming over, and donghyuck didn't know a thing about it.

part of him wanted to tell the tanned male, another part of him did not.
