"Did you bring the stuff?" Noelle unhesitantly approaches you with a bright smile curved alog with her pinkish lips.

You beam and show her a plastic bag. "Yeah, I brought the stuff." Inside was a box of rainbow colored chalks.

Noelle happily receives the pack, looking at you with glooming eyes. "You're a lifesaver, Y/N! Thank you so much." She says, hugging the set around her arms. It was as if losing it would be more tragic than losing a limb or two.

From the word 'chalk', you probably might have guessed it was for the one and only, intimidating Susie. You are a long-term best friend to Noelle so you know her like your own mind. You were the one who listened to her troubles and did everything to keep her innocent and happy. And for that to remain accurate, you knew most of the things she would do.

And well, today, she's confessing to her crush.

You pinch the bridge of your round nose. "No problem! I'm sort of excited for you haha." A weak laugh breathes out from your lips.

Noelle tucks a lock of hair behind her ear, a mannerism whenever she feels nervous. "Yeah, I can't believe I'm doing this! It's now or never."

"Hahaha, yeah."

'I can't believe you're doing this too.' You wish you'd say it already. The words that you want to voice out to her before she does the confession she's been looking forward to. That innocent, care-free look on her face you just want to hold and protect.

You lick your lips before saying, "Well, goodluck."

Tell her. A voice echoes into your mind. An odd feeling of resistance rushes through your clenched fists. You held yourself back. You want her to be happy with whoever she wants to be with.

"Thanks, Y/N. I'll see you later and, wish me luck." A kind smile was plastered across her thin lips before she turns away from you.

That damn smile.

Your hand and lips were aching to pull her close to you and speak out your feelings to your heart's content. It was in a thirst for honesty.

Do it. Another one vibrates in your head. You watch her disappear from your sight, her figure slightly getting smaller with each step she takes.

It was silent for a while.

* . . .

You let loose an emotionally exhausted sigh and whisper,

"See ya."

Maybe, you're just too late.

*

You have received a message.

The short vibration that touched your skin came from your phone. You take a hold of it in your hands, the screen lits up its radiating light. And from there, you read.

From: Noelle

i need a friend rn...

im on my way what happened???

You reply in curiously. Maybe things didn't go too well? Was she hurt? Was she okay? You don't know for sure. Your mind was wandering into a train of conlusions whilst waiting for her text.

The screen of your phone lights up. You immediately open the text box.

From: Noelle

just please... see me at the diner..

From the looks of it, things weren't going too well in observation. Frustrated, you run a hand through your silky hair, trailing it down to your neck as you prepare your stuff to get up and leave the school.
