"Lance?" Keith whispered. Lance hummed. "Can I sleep with you tonight? I was having nightmares again." Keith asked. Lance nodded, moving in the small bed for his best friend. Keith snuggled close to Lance, embracing his warmth. "Hey?" Lance said. "Yeah?" Keith replied. "Will you promise to be with me forever?" Lance asked, turning to look at Keith. "Of course! Why do you ask?" Keith assures Lance. "Well...I-" Lance started before being interrupted. "Shut up you gay fags!" One of the boys yelled. Lance just shut his mouth and faced the other way, blinking the tears away. Keith just cried silently, letting fear and anxiety consume his thoughts.

"Keith, Lance, I need you to come here, we have some parents that want to adopt you." Ms. Amy called, most of the boys looked shocked, while Keith and Lance were beyond excited knowing that that was Emily and John coming to save them, but when they walked in, it wasn't John and Emily, but two different families. "Keith, please go to this family, and Lance, go to this family." Ms. Amy ordered, Keith and Lance were frightened but followed instructions."So, Mrs. White, I see that you want to adopt Keith, we just need to check your house and have him stay for a week to see how he likes it. Is that ok with you, or do you want to change your kid of adoption?" The new Missus asked. Who Keith presumed was Mrs. White, shook her head, signing papers and walking back to Keith. "Hi Keith, my name is Delilah, and your going to come to your new home for a week, so could you please pack up whatever you need? Thanks you." Delilah told Keith, Keith just shook in fear, not being able to be separated from Lance.
He just nodded, leaving to go pack his things. He was now 13, he wouldn't have much more opportunities to be adopted, so why not take it. But he couldn't live without Lance. Keith started to cry and shake, soon having someone bombard him with a hug. "Hey, why are you crying?" Lance asked, sounding rather upset himself. "I-I, do-on't w-want to-o k-leave you-u ." Keith cried into Lances shoulder. "Hey, it's only a week, besides I'll get the address and you get yours and we could write letters to each other. Keith just nodded, then picking up his things, and his plush hippo, Lance got him with his own allowance as a birthday gift.
Once he was all done, he went and hugged Lance, then kissing his cheek. "I'm really gonna miss you." Keith cried before leaving. Lance was heartbroken, tears breaking down in pursuit along his cheeks. He solemnly walked over to his new family and let them take him away from the love of his life.

"Lance, hijo, could you cheer up please, I don't like seeing you sad." Marie asked. Lance just sat there as his temporary mother brought him to her house for the first time, almost all sign of civilization gone now, just sheep, grass, and sky. "Sorry." Lance peeped out. Marie frowned sadly. "Hijo, it's alright, is it that boy you were friendly with?" Marie asked. Lance nodded, more tears falling. Marie then smiled all of a sudden. "Maybe we could set up a play date?" Marie suggested, Lance just shrugged in response. Marie frowned, keeping her eyes on the road."Hijo, I just want you to know, I love you. No matter what." Marie smiled. Lance smiled back, and not a forced smile but a genuine smile. The car came to slowing stop as they stopped at a farm. "We're here! Now you'll get to meet, you brothers and sisters!" Marie squeaked excitedly. Lance just walked shyly behind Marie. Lance's temporary dad, Miguel, was hoeing the ground as he looked up and smiled. "Looks like a true Serrano." Miguel commented happily, smiling widely. "Come here son." He beckoned, holding his arms out for a hug. Lance awkwardly hugged Miguel back. I'll come back for you Keith, I promise.
