Taylor's P.O.V.

Jeremy stared with his eyes and mouth wide open, while Chad continued his conversation.

"Hey man..." he stuttered. "Think positive. It could be like, his cousin." I looked at him in fury as they leaned in for a passionate kiss. I couldn't believe my eyes.

Before I could think, I walked right up to them. "So, Chad. You have not introduced me to this.... this...... significant other." The amount of sarcasm in my voice was sickening.

Chad's eyes grew wide and he looked at me and Jeremy. Then he tried to 'play it cool' but his ruse was terrible.

"Pshhh.... what are you talking about? This is my.... uh.... cousin's cousin."

"WHAT?" His girlfriend stood up. "I'm your girlfriend, Chad! I've been your girlfriend for eleven months now! Why are you ashamed of me?" she narrowed her eyes. "Unless... you're cheating on me."

"Babe, you know I would never-"

"He IS cheating on you!" Jeremy said frustratedly, while typing something on his phone. "I'm telling Hayley about this."

"NO! DON'T!" Chad said desperately.

"HAYLEY?!" the girl screamed. "YOU SAID YOU GUYS WERE OVER!"

Taylor whipped out his phone and went to Chad's instagram. "See? This was taken yesterday." A picture of Hayley and Chad leaning in for a kiss was displayed on the screen.

Chad's girlfriend whipped out her phone from her purse too. "He told me THIS was his instagram!!" She brought up a picture of her and Chad at the beach. Then they all realized-he had created a different account so that nobody could know he was cheating on his girlfriends.

"I'm outta here." Chad's girlfriend stood up and gave him a hard slap on the cheek. She stormed out of the local coffee shop, screaming "I HATE YOU!!" through angry tears.

We all watched her leave silently. Finally I said, "How could you DO this to her?" I shook my head in disbelief.

"Hayley LOVED you," I continued, trying to hold back tears and keep my voice steady.

"You've been dating for years. She wrote a dozen songs for you. I remember watching her laugh when you guys were on the phone and her singing in the bathroom while she got ready for a date- and how she would text you at three in the morning just to tell you she couldn't stop thinking about how much she loved you." I stopped to look him right in the eye. "Why would you lie to her? Why didn't you care about her?" Jeremy remained silent but gave Chad a death glare while he waited for his explanation.

Chad looked almost offended and squinted at both of us. "I loved her! More than she could ever imagine!" he took a step back and his voice became quieter. "But then one day... there was this girl that came to us backstage after the show. We started talking and she eventually asked me about my girlfriend. I told her that Hayley and I were soulmates...then she told me that since we were always on tour, our long distance relationship wouldn't work out in the long run. I gave it some thought and realized she might be right. The next time I saw her, I told her that Hayley and I had broken up. Since her parents won the lottery, she got a private jet to go wherever she wanted, and we could see day other all the time."

"So you just wanted to marry her for money?" Jeremy interrupted with his arms folded across his chest.

"I guess.... I guess I'll admit that was partly why, but at least we were together all the time. But maybe now that this is all over, Hayley and I can get back together and you guys could... Let it slide."

"ARE YOU KIDDING ME? NO!" Taylor gave Chad a shove backwards.

"You don't DESERVE a beautiful girl like her!"

A man who worked at the coffee shop came over to us. "Settle down, I don't want a brawl happening. You're already the center of attention and I don't want to have to call the police."

Jeremy and I didn't care at the moment. "Wait until we tell Hayley!" he said and ran off towards my car. I followed him at light speed. Chad ran to his car too, and we both sped off on the road, the speed limit signs being the least of our attention.

My phone started ringing, and I tossed it to Jeremy. I glanced at the time-in 10 minutes Hayley would be waiting for Chad at the fancy restaurant we were headed for.

"Hello?"Jermey said. He was quiet for a couple seconds. "It's Chad."

"Put that selfish cheater on speakerphone," I said hurriedly while swerving around a wandering seagull.

"Guys, I know you want to tell Hayley," he began, his voice sounding slightly scratchy on our end. "But look, when she and I meet up, I'll tell her things aren't working out for us and I'll break up with her. I promise. She won't have to know I cheated on her, and you'll never hear from me again."

"Why should we do that for you?" Jeremy sneered.

"After all she's been through, you would rather have her heart shatter more than it had to? She can find a new boyfriend just Iike that!" He sighed. "I know I've been really stupid, and if I could fix this, I really would. But letting her know how selfish I've been would not only break her heart, it would break mine and it would traumatize her. I would rather just tell her that this whole long distance thing isn't working out, and she could get a new boyfriend and move on. I honestly think that if she knows the truth, she'll never love again and I would never want that to be my fault. I've felt terrible about what I've done for so long and I regret everything. I mean it."

Jeremy, Chad and I were silent. He sounded so apologetic and sincere that I could never suspect he was lying. I wasn't sure about what we could do.

Finally Jeremy said reluctantly, "Fine. But one slip up or one more mistake and she knows." he hung up and the rest of the ride home was in silence.
