I Get Lonely Sometimes
You flop down on your bed, after a long day of school and training. Once again, your parents were gone. Your father, Oliver was on an important mission in Paraguay, while your Mother, Dinah was having a meeting with the League. It had been like this since you were a child and hadn't gotten better. You understood your parents were important people, but that didn't stop the loneliness you felt.
Dinah and Oliver had taken you in after your orphanage burned down. They wanted to see what they could do to help, but after seeing you, they knew you were something special. You were grateful and always tried your hardest to make them proud. Today was one of those days.
After school, you went to the Cave to train. Usually your mother would train with you, but due to her meeting she couldn't. Wanting to make up for it, you doubled down on your usual routine. It left your body sore and aching.
Willing yourself out of bed, you went to the kitchen to make some dinner. You made yourself some chicken nuggets and a glass of water. Sighing, you carried it to the couch and put on some T.V while you ate.
An hour or so had passed, and you were getting ready for a shower. Your mother still hadn't come back. Jumping in the shower, you sighed in relief, feeling the warm water hit your skin. You started to wash your hair, humming softly.
After your shower, you laid in bed trying to fall asleep. You sang the small lullaby, that Dinah would sing to you when you couldn't sleep. "Oh the waves roll low and the waves roll high and so it goes under a bright blue endless sky. Waves try to measure, days that we treasure, wave hello and wave goodbye." With that you slowly fell asleep.
Later that night your mother came home to find you fast asleep. She kissed your forehead and hoped that you remained asleep. Despite her wishes, you started to stir and slowly wake. "Mama?" You spoke groggily. "Go back to sle-" Before she could finish, you launched yourself at her, giving her a spine crushing hug. "I missed you." You mumbled into her neck. "I missed you too Angel." She ran her hands through your H/C colored hair. "Is something wrong?" You shake your head. "No, I was just....never mind." Dinah gave you the 'I know you better than you think' look and you sigh. "You were just what?" You pause. "...lonely. I was just lonely." Dinah hugged you tighter. "I'm so sorry. I never meant for you to feel this way." "I know mama, I can't help it." You wipe a stray tear that had left your cheek. "It's not your fault. It's mine. I swear I'll never make you feel this way again." You smile and start to fall asleep in your mother's arms. "I love you Y/N. Never forget it." "I love you too mama."
