chapter 4-
I woke up the next day to the incessant buzzing of my beside alarm clock at the normal time I would wake up for work, 6am. I curse myself for forgetting to switch it off the night before, knowing I wouldn't have work for the next 4 days. Maybe it was because I was too busy texting Namjoon that it just sorta, slipped my mind. My task for the weekend was to basically learn his entire families life stories, sounds simple right? I knew it was gonna be a lot of work but I couldn't help but be excited, this was something completely new and out of my comfort zone, and it would be good for me. It might even take my mind off what my ex must be going through right now.

A few moments later I received my first ever good morning text, Namjoon told me he was coming to get me in an hour and to dress warm, that he wouldn't want me getting a cold, which I thought was quite, I don't know, sweet I guess. I dressed casually enough, a cream polar neck with a check skirt, black tights and a teddy bear coat, I didn't want to go in my slacks because even if I'd only ever be with his family for no more than 72 hours I didn't want them to think I was a complete slob. I grabbed my black suitcase and my little black handbag and headed downstairs to wait for him outside my apartment building.

It was pretty icy around my steps so getting my bag down the stairs in black high heeled boots seemed like it would be quite a challenge for me. It was going pretty well, I managed to make it to the last three steps without even slipping, then I jinxed myself. I lost my balance on the step and fell right back heading towards the sidewalk. I squeezed my eyes tightly shut preparing for the hard smack against the concrete, but to my surprise, I had a soft landing. I peered open my eyes and seen a wide smile with the most precious little dimples and I knew exactly just who it was. Namjoon.

"Merry Christmas wifey" I rolled my eyes and say "ugh put me down Romeo" I replied with a hint of annoyance, I hate it when he teases me like that, he knows I'm not the romantic type. He sees my pretty large suitcase still resting on the concrete step behind me and raises an eyebrow, "three days and you're taking a LARGE suitcase?!" He scoffs "you're so over the top." I'm a little offended at what he'd just said so I reply "Well I have literally no idea where we're going so I had to pack for cold weather conditions, that just happens to mean coats and scarves, and those are thick things that fill it up easily" "Excuses, excuses" he tuts at me whilst he lifts it and makes his way over to the black pick up truck parked outside my building, making faces as if it was the heaviest thing on earth, my phone pings in my purse and I reach down to grab it, namjoon says "you coming slow coach?" I dart my eyes up at him "give me a sec, wait in the car for me." He jumps in and I read the message on my lock screen, 'babe, I can't stop thinking about you. Come back to me. I'll make it up to you. I'll do anything. Please, just call me. -Tae' I give a deep sigh and white clouds of icy breath escape my full honeyed lips as I debate whether or not to respond to his message.

I decided to ignore it and placed the phone back in my bag. This weekend wasn't about my problems. It was about escaping reality, and that's exactly what I planned on doing. I jumped in the pick up and headed out of the village and into the mountains. The drive was a few hours so we had no choice but to learnt lots about one another. He was a songwriter, he lived a simple life but he had to travel the world for his work, which was one of my personal life goals. He told me about each city he'd been to, how different each one was, that he wished he could have had someone else there to experience it all with him. He told me how much he missed his family when he was gone, it made me realise how humble he was, how down to earth he was. Maybe it even attracted me to him a little. Of course I was fully aware that absolutely none of what was happening this weekend was real but for some reason I didn't care, I kinda wanted to pretend. It might be nice to have someone like him as a partner, even if it was just for a few days.

As I was busy contemplating my thoughts in my own little world I felt a tap and my shoulder and looked over to joon, "hmm?" I say dazed "sorry I must've zoned out." I laugh awkwardly at myself, "it's fine, we're here." He smiles as he opens his door and makes his way to the back of the truck to get the bags. I jump out and feel the snow through my boots and shudder, it was much thicker than at home, I trudged around to the other side of the truck and saw possibly the most gorgeously crafted oak winter cabin I'd seen in my life, it was huge, had large glossy windows that shone like the top of the Chrysler building and Christmas lights dangled from the roof trimmings like the most stunning icicles you'd ever witness. My mouth automatically widened in awe at the scale of the building and joon let out a chuckle at me. I then spotted two women standing on the patio attempting to hang up some multicoloured light bulbs along the cabins entrance.

They spotted the truck and dropped everything as they ran over to embrace Namjoon. I stood there awkwardly in the cold as they welcomed him home. Once they finally step back from him they notice me standing there and a surprised expression falls on both of their pale faces, they look at each other then back at me and then to Namjoon. The younger woman said almost breathlessly "Nammie, have you finally-?" Namjoon clears his throat and wraps his arm around my waist, pulling my closer to his side, my breathing hitches at the shock of his embrace but I manage to put a smile on my face. "Mom, Grams, this is y/n, my fiancée."
