I don't know what happened after my mom was shot. But I found myself, surrounded by sounds of rushing footsteps, phones ringing and occasionally I heard distance sobs. I opened my eyes to find that they were sore and my face was burning from my tears. I looked around to see I was in a chair and my clothes were stained with my mom's blood. My eyes started to swell up when I started thinking about her. Wait my mom were is she? I bolted up from my seat like I sat on a pin. I ran to a women who was sitting in a desk. She was on the computer, and she looked like she hadn't slept in weeks.
"Yes?" she replied not even looking up.
"Do you know were my mother is?" she stopped what she was doing and looked up at me.
"No I'm sorry I have no idea where she is. The doctors won't give anyone information about her." "Your marina right?" "Whose mother was shot yesterday?" I looked glumly at the floor and tried to stop the tears that wanted to escape its container. "Yea" I said. The woman looked at me with pity eyes. "I'm sorry, but you will just have sit in the chair and wait for the doctor to come out." "Thanks for your help." I replied.
I went back to where I was sitting and sat down. When I looked at the floor I found a huge, wet puddle underneath my chair. I sighed I was always a crier. I cried about everything but this was a record of how much I had cried and the pain I'm feeling. My sad thoughts drift back to when I was in this same position when my dad was rushed to the hospital from ALS. I shook the painful memory out of my mind and waited for what news was coming my way.
I looked up to see a young man. He had blonde hair with green eyes. He was wearing a white doctor's outfit, but he was way too young to be a doctor. He looked to be around my age. So I was confused when he said my name. "Yes" I replied in a squeaky voice. The guy laughed while I blushed from embarrassment, with what my vocal cords had made.
"Either you didn't get enough sleep or your voice is really high for you." He said cracking up at what I did. "What did you do swallow a squeaky toy?" He was on the floor now and I felt my face burning up. Once he calmed down, he looked at me with an evil grin. "You look like a red tomato." He said holding back his laughter. Oh he just made my insides boil, he had made me so mad. I jumped out my chair and stared at him irately "Will you shut up I have been crying for hours. My mom was shot and you are making fun out of me! Who gave you the authority to be here talking to me anyway? I never said you could!"
I'm not rude, but I hate being laughed at and my mom was shot how do you expect me to handle what's going on. He looked at me in shock. "Sorry I was trying to lighten the mood, and you kind of made it easy, Now will you follow me." The boy said. "Why?" I asked "Are you a doctor?" He chuckled "No I'm way too young for that. I'm helping out my stepdad today."
I nodded and he pointed in a direction and started to make moving motions with his hands, indicating to follow him. I stared to walk towards him, once he knew I was following him he started to show me were we are going. As I followed him we walked past doors and people in wheelchairs. I was about to ask if my mom was ok when I realized I didn't know his name.
"Hey who are you?" I asked "A intern" he replied, "No I mean your name." "I know I was having fun I'm Jacob." I nodded and we made a turn and I saw nurses talking. I looked further down the hall and saw a little girl in a chair. Jacob and I got closer and I saw that the girl was clutching a little doll, there were tears on it and she had sad eyes.
Feeling pity, I knelt down next to her. "What's her name?" I asked ,as I pointed to her doll she looked up for me to see the beautiful hazel eyes. She didn't say anything and looked back down. "You don't want to tell me?" She didn't say anything "okay then, is it Cheerios?" I heard the girl chuckle a little "No? Ok how about ice-cream?" she looked up at me and shook her head no. "Ok, oh I know it's candy cake!" she laughed "No her name is Sally." the girl replied. "Dose she like you being sad?" I said with worry. The girl shook her head no. "Then why are you sad?" She looked down "I don't know cause every one here is scary and my family was in a car crash... and I don't know what will happen, I'm scared that they won't live."
I felt sad for the girl cause I could somewhat relate with my mom. "Don't be sad they will heal, and you will be taken home you will be loved forever" the girls face lit up and she smiled wide. I couldn't help but smile back. She put Sally to her ear and laughed, "Sally wants you to give her a hug." She smiled as she held her out to me. I smiled at the sweet girl and took the doll and hug Sally. Giving the doll back i grinned ,"What's your name?" "Aubrey" she said.
She jumped out of her seat and gave me a hug. She sat back down and waved goodbye. I stood up smiling and turned around to see that Jacob had his mouth opened in shock. "What?" he shook his head and motioned me away from Aubrey. "No one has been able to talk to Aubrey at all she wouldn't speak. No one could give her stuff or have them touch the doll. And you, some random girl who talked to her made her skip happily." Jacob said pointing towards Aubrey. I looked around and to see that Aubrey was skipping in circles.
I smiled at her and looked at Jacob then frowned. "I'm some random girl? I have no name?" "No I didn't mean it that way. I just mean she didn't know you, and she knew some of us but didn't talk to us." Jacob said defensively. I laughed, "I know I was just having fun with ya." Jacob smiled back. "Can we go now?" I asked. Jacob nodded and we walked some more and then he stopped and turned around to face me. "Your mother is in here." I smiled "She's alive!" I said with glee. "Yes" Jacob said "we are hoping to have her be released from the hospital tomorrow" I smiled brightly as Jacob opened the door for me .
