They come at night. Dark, six feet tall, human like creatures with arms reaching its ankles. Their hands have claws sharp enough to pierce anything, or anyone. Its eyes white, blank, and bright. And their mouths filled with fangs, long and jagged. The president calls them lanterns. They come only at night, and have a sick appetite for children. So every night we board up our doors, and wait. Ten fearful hours. Now don't look down on the parent just yet. They've tried countless times to keep these lanterns away from their children, but it's pointless. The lanterns walk right through them, as if they're nothing.
It's been like this for 8 months now. We've learned to live with it. Still each day, we go to school and there's a empty desk, a missing child, a missing friend. Our poor poor president is taking all the heat for this. It's in no way his fault, but our parents are grieving and angry. Everydays another death threat "for every child that dies that's a bullet in your head mr.president". People can get real nasty. As horrible as these threats are, they're mighty effective.
Two weeks ago he sent out an announcements saying all children would be collected and taken to a protection camp, where they would be kept safe. Taking the children away would leave the rest of the world safe and peaceful. It was the only logical explanation. All parents had to do was send in a letter with the names of their kids. Don't have any kids, simple, don't send in a letter.
