Chapter 7: The Successor

I watch as Jak lays on the ground unconsious. My heart races as i run towards him quickly checking his pulse. "Hes fine." i mutter as i do a hand sign focusing chakra into my hands.

I then start to give some of my chakra to Jak by placing my hands over his body. "That boy has my respect." the big black wolf says walking up behind me. I turn quickly kunai in hand ready to defend Jak.

The wolf then laughs and says "Girl, i wont hurt the boy anymore. Like i said, he has my respect." as the wolf heads off to the rest of the pack. Another wolf walks up and bows his head. "Hello, you must be Jaks friends." the wolf says looking over at Taki the me.

I nod as he contnues "Im Ken, Jak has always been so reckless." as he looks down behind me at Jak. For a second, i thought i saw a tear in his eye as he turned back to me. "Ill explain what happened, but hurry, those ninja might still be around." Ken says looking at the tree line.

"If you mean the ones in black, Jak killed them all." I say looking at Ken. His eyes widen as he turns and walks over to the pack talking to them. He then walks back over with another wolf, this one is white.

"This is Chass, she specializes in gathering info." Ken says as Chass waks to Jak andstops next to him. She then places her paw on Jaks head and ands there for a minute.

She then removes her paw and walks up to Ken. They stared at each other for a second before Ken turns his head looking at me. "I see, so it happened again." Ken says with a sigh.

"So it has happened before."  I ask while staring at the wolf. He looks at me and then turns his head. I look at what he was and am surprised by Taki standing there. "Next time say something." i say taking a deep breathe.

"We will protect Jak til he regains consciousness. Yall may go back to the village." Ken says looking behind him. "Ay, Top come see." Ken says as a small wolf runs over to us. He stops infront of us and says "Im Top, nice to meet ya." bowing his head quickly while wagging his tell violently.

"Look, i still..."  I start before being cut off by Ken " Dont worry, yall will be needed to retrieve the townsfolk and if yall both dont go back, then your allies might get suspicious." as he looks at Top.

"Top will lead you to where they are." Ken says as he walks to Jak and grqbs him by his collar flipping him on his back. I stand up and sigh. "Ok, ill trust you this once." i say turning to the little wolf. "Lets go." i tell him and he nods.

He then runs towards the forest, I follow him sensing Taki coming right behind me. We head towards the villlage at a fast pace.

Ken

I walk over to my pack and look at them. "We will protect the boy till he wakes up." I say turning toqards the shack. "Why should we, he isnt our master." a wolf speaks up. I turn to see it is Lotis.

"Then obey me as the pack leader." I say with a serious face. Lotis nods not saying another word. I then walk into the shack and walks to a bed. I let Jak slide off my back into the bed. I then lay there beside the bed looking at the door.

"So, why exactly should we protect this boy." Chass says walking into the shack. She stops infront of me and sighs. "This boy has the qulifactions of being the next wolf sage." I say turning around to look at the boy.

"Oh, so have you already accepted him." Chass says sitting down infront of me. I then turn and shake my head. "No, i dont just yet, he may have the power, but he needs to be able to control it." I say looking at Chass.
