"Name in the sky does it ever get lonely, thinking you can live without me."

-Without Me; Halsey

Mikala POV

Yawning, I fixed the uniform I was currently wearing. It's been about a week since I was told I passed the exam with flying marks. At the moment I was standing by the stairs waiting for the announcer to call me up to introduce Yukihira and I like this year's transferees.

I honestly thought Yukihira had failed judging by how a week ago he was all depressed as we left the compass, but since he is here I'm guessing he was just nervous and worn out from the exam. Looking around, I toned out the words of the school director, Nakiri Senzaemon, as he went on about how some of us were sacrifices while one percent of us were the future.

As I was scanning the crowd, I made brief eye contact with some ghost looking girl. An albino? Her skin was ghostly white along with her short chin length hair, her eyes were a blazing red as they maintained eye contact with my own.

"And now I will be calling up the two transfer students." Upon hearing this, I brushed off my shirt once more before following Soma onto the stage, breaking eye contact with the strange girl. Walking on stage, I looked ahead trying to focus on the crowd. For someone related to famous chefs, I really hated the spotlight. It made me feel nauseous standing up here, and the thought of having to talk caused shivers to run down my spine.

Thankfully, Soma seemed to have noticed and began his speech first, "Uh, sorry to be talking to y'all from up here." He began, laughing nervously and scratching his neck when someone yelled at him to hurry it up, "Right, then I'll keep it short and sweet, no more than a couple of sentences. I'm Yukihira Soma. To be honest, this academy is just a stepping stone to me. I wasn't expecting to transfer here, but I don't plan on losing to folks who hadn't even served a customer. Anyway, what I'm basically saying is, I'm gonna take the number one spot! I'm looking forward to the next three years." Soma finished his speech with a bow, completely ignoring the silent and angry glares he received from the students. A few of them boo'd and tossed objects at the confused teen but quicked stopped upon seeing the glare from the announcer.

"A-all right, now that we have heard from Yukihira let move on to the next transfer student."

Stepping forward, I cleared my throat before looking straight into the crowd, ignoring the ball that formed inside of my stomach. "My name is Mikala Park. I am not here to make friends, I am simply here to become a great chef so that I can take over my grandfather's restaurant. Much like Yukihira, I am also here for the top spot. That is all, hope we get along during our high school years." I heard a few boos but thankfully no one tossed anything at me on stage.

Turning around, I walked backstage where a shocked Erina was standing in front of a grinning Soma. Not wanting to get caught up in their banter, I walked out of the curtain and towards where the director said our classes would be. I was glad that the uniform code here was not so strict, meaning I could wear anything I wish as long as something showed I was a Totsuki student. Ever since I found this out I had abandoned the uniform pants and replaced them with my own pair of black skinny jeans, I did keep the white button-down shirt and tie, however, the shirt sleeves were rolled up to my elbows while the tie was tied loosely and the first two buttons of my shirt was unbuttoned along with the last one. The blazer I was given was tied around my waist and a pair of tims on my feet.

Not a bad outfit, but not my best.

Pulling out my schedule from my back pocket, I checked my first class. 'Brazilian Cuisine, Room. 205, Mrs. Rayner'. Sighing, I walked into the building and looked around. I was glad they had signs around the school that held directions, otherwise, I would have cursed myself for leaving the group without knowing where to go. Heading up the nearest stairs, I reached the second floor before looking at the closest room number, 209. Luckily I was only four doors away from my first class.
