Knock !

Knock !

Knock !

I knocked on the door at the big house as I stood in the dark with my garbage bag thrown across my shoulder. It took a while to finally get here to see that nobody is home. I knocked again and rang the door bell. No one still came to the door. I guess I need to just let it go. It's just not meant to be. I turned around walking down the steps that led to a long sidewalk through the driveway.

"Ma ain't nobody knocking!" I heard a voice yell through the doors that must've still been closed. I looked back as the door opened to see a young man that resembled myself.

"It can't be" I thought to myself. I turned around and walked back up the steps to see a young man that resembled me in my passed days. I was replete of curiosity. When did my son get this old? This tall? When did he start growing facial hair? How could I miss these important moments of my first and only son's life?

I'm guessing he knew who I was because what seemed to be an eternity really lasted a minute before I dropped my bags on the porch and we felt each other's embrace. I really can't believe I'm standing where I am right now.

As we hugged I heard a woman's voice coming around the corner, "Faree? Who's at the-" before she could finish she gasped at what was in her sight. I let a few tears warm my eyes before rolling down my face burning my eyes as they left the socket. I knew Safaree was crying too because even as a child when he'd cry he'd breathe a little faster than usual. I lifted up looking at my oldest son. He's grew into a very mature and handsome guy from what I've picked up so far.

"I've missed you pops.." He said gently as he let me go.

I did the same nodding my head. "I've missed you too son. You lookin like ya old man did back in the days." I smiled acting as I was punching his muscles.

He shook his head with a smile on his face. "You know everyone tells me that." I nodded at his statement focusing my attention on what was behind him.

"Val, Val, Val. That's how we do now?" I asked just observing her posture. I could tell she missed me, but she was afraid. I know she's thinking back on our past relationship, but she has to know I'm not the same man I used to be.

"So you cheating on me now!" I yelled pushing her on the floor seeing her body tremble in terror. I saw my wife, but I saw my father; just as he would do my mother when I was barely old enough to defend her.

She shook her head no trying to stand up. "Did I tell you to get up? No! So sit the fuck down!" I yelled again slapping her this time. She pouted holding her face that was now slightly red and more so bruised.

I eventually had beat my wife that night until she had fell asleep crying. I woke up the next morning to find myself alone in bed with the situation from last night to ponder over. I didn't understand why I done so, but I know the cause. The alcohol was too much for me. I have never cheated on Valerie nor did I plan to either. I've always loved Val even when she'd make me mad. I know she wouldn't leave me, so I wasn't even worried about that I just hope she wouldn't try and do something crazy. I gotta make a change before it's too late.

I couldn't get through to her just by me standing here, so I entered the beautiful home dropping my back by the door entry never taking my eyes off of this beautiful sculpture that God created. I crept up closer to her, so that we were now face to face.

"Val it's me.. Ron." I said with a trembling voice. She smirked, but her eyes still showed a sign of her being shocked.

"I know who you are.." She said letting her fingers trace the features on my face. I smiled as I tried to wrap my arms around her for a hug, but she stopped me.

"I just want a hug that's all... It's been too long with out-" she shushed me.

"Don't. I don't want to hear you say none of that. I'm giving you a place to stay that all.."

That's all? So she doesn't even love me anymore. I held my head up high as if she didn't even crush my spirit. Everything gonna be alright. "I understand and I really do appreciate this favor. I won't be y'all way too long." I replied going back to the door grabbing my bag.

"Son show your father where he'll be sleeping at for now." Val said causing SB to shake his head, "Yes ma'am."

He closed the door and walked off going upstairs. I followed looking all around me. I gotta know my surroundings just incase something goes wrong. I'm guessing the first room on the right was just a guest room because of how regular the furniture was. The next room on the left looked as if it contained male things, so that's Safaree's. Then we passed a bathroom, the master's, closet, and then we'd finally reached mine.

The fact that I really zoned out during SB's tour I didn't really know anything he had said. I looked back to see him staring at me.

"What's wrong? You act like you'd seen a ghost." I asked, but all he did was smile.

"Nothing man. Just feels good seeing you again, but I got some work I need to handle. I'll get up with you later pops." He said as he dapped me up.

"Alright. Be careful.." He nodded his head as he walked out as I plopped on the bed looking at the features in the ceiling.

SB

"I guess pops back for good." I thought to myself starting my Range Rover's engine. I put the car in reverse back out and pulled onto the road just easing on the gas pedal.

"Man I miss Nicki.." I thought out loud. Something has to be done. I rode to the old has Nicki had first purchased just letting the old memories consume me at the gate.
