"Make sure to move your fingers!"
The child playing the piano started to play on his finger pads and was moving his fingers to make a delicate, yet round sound. Playing from his international book, volume 3, he was playing Sonatina in C Major.
Finishing his piece, you wrote in a neat cursive font of what needed to be fixed and tips for what he should do. Bowing, we went out into the waiting room, where his mother waited for him.
"I wrote down what he needs to fix in his piece. He's doing a wonderful job. He needs to move his fingers, and work on dynamics. His other homework is starting G major arpeggios, downs and ups on Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and seven pages of theory." I told his mother, passing her, her son's notebook. Thanking me, she pinched her smiling son's cheeks and rushed out of the building.
With him being your last student, you started to close up. First, filling in reports on your computer on how the students you had today were growing. Then, you were wiping down the grand pianos and dusting off the bookshelves. Writing down the agenda for tomorrow on my whiteboard, you huffed out a breath. It was a long day. After twelve students with one-hour lessons, you've been here since seven o'clock in the morning.
Shutting down my laptop, you glanced down at your short, black, gel nails with a stripe of gold polish in the middle. Snapping back to reality, you finished packing up. Stuffing your bag and laptop into your car, you came out to lock the studio. From the car, you turned the alarm on and drove back home.
Opening the front door, your small, white, poodle, Miri, greeted you. Smiling, you petted him and gave him some love. Giving him a refill on dog food, you washed my hands and pulled out a ramen packet to cook for dinner. While digging into it, you got a phone call.
Groaning, you reluctantly answered the phone. All you wanted was to eat your ramen in peace.
"Hello?" you asked grubbily.
"Y/N!" Soyeon said through the phone.
"Soyeon, do you need anything right now? I want to eat my ramen in peace," you said.
"Yikes. That hurts. I was just asking if you wanted to come to a party Minnie unnie is hosting," Soyeon asked. Taking a mouthful of ramen, you sat quietly for a minute.
"Do I really have a choice?" you asked.
"Not really! You need to leave the house and get groovy!" Soyeon said happily. "I'll be at your house at eight."
"My shift finishes at eight. Come at eight-thirty," you informed.
"Noted. I'll reach at your place by eight-thirty. See you tomorrow best friend!" Soyeon said. Hanging up, you groaned.
What have you gotten yourself into?
You never enjoyed parties after college, and being busy 24/7 didn't help as well. You simply didn't have time for parties. Soyeon didn't like that though. She wanted you to socialize. She wanted you to meet guys, get in a relationship, and not marry a piano.
Sighing, you finished the ramen and changed into a pair of comfortable sweats. Going into your closet to chose an outfit for tomorrow, you chose a black pantsuit, and black high heels. Tying your hair into a tight braid, you drifted off to sleep.
Little did you know:
Tomorrow would be the start of something you hadn't experienced in a long time.
