Lance stood up and looked at Honerva. She ran up to him, pulling him into a hug and he awkwardly hugged back unsure what to think. He broke away quickly.
"How did you find me?" He asked, rubbing the back of his neck with his hand.
"Oh I just heard the sound of complete and utter betrayal and followed that." She said flatly. "Now, you are coming back to the tower." Honerva said, grabbing on to his wrist.
"No." He said forcefully, breaking away from her grasp. "I am going to see those Lions whether you like it or not!"
Honerva just rolled her eyes and tried to pull him away again but he dodged.
"Besides, I met someone..." He said, a small smile tugging its way onto his face.
"Oh the wanted thief!? Good choice." Honerva said sarcastically.
Lance ignored her. "I think she might like me..." He said, looking down at his feet and recalling their conversations from earlier.
"Don't be a fool Lance. That convict just wants this-" Honerva said, holding up the precious chip.
"How did yo-"
"She'll just take what she wants and leave you in the dust." Honerva said, her voice burrowing deep into Lance's soul.
"You're lying." Lance said defiantly. He looked at the small chip in her hand.
"Fine. Give it to her then. And you'll see that I always know best." She said.
"I will!" Lance shouted, grabbing the chip from her hand. But, before he could say anything else, Honerva had vanished.
He just stared into the darkness, running the hand that wasn't holding the chip through his hair. The only thing that brought him out of his worried thoughts was Pidge's voice. He smiled slightly and slipped the chip sneakily in his pocket. She seemed to have gotten over her flustered behavior.
"So Lancey, has your hair always been able to do that?" She questioned, as she began to set up the fire. Lance walked over to help her.
"Because it so ridiculously cool! Do you think the healing has any positive side affects? Like could my hand somehow get super strength? I mean it is highly improbable but still would be so neat! Do y-" Pidge began rambling. Lance watched her and he found himself smiling. What the heck was Honerva talking about? She wouldn't just up and leave him once she got the chip back. Right..? Right?
Neither of the two noticed Honerva crouching behind the bushes, still watching them. Beside her was Ezor and Zethrid.
"Why can't I just go pound her and turn her in now!" Zethrid said angrily.
"Patience, young bounty hunters. Good things always come to those who wait." She declared, looking back at the newly crackling fire and the two people sitting beside it.
"With my help, you can win Gunderson's prize money and so much more..."

Lance woke up slowly, yawning and stretching his arms, when suddenly he remembered. "Today is my birthday." He said excitedly. "Today I'm going to see the lions!"
He turned, wanting to wake up the little Pidgeon before looking at her. She was curled up in a little ball, using his surplus hair as a blanket. It was fine considering he had more than enough hair to go around but he just found it... cute that she had curled up with it.
"Hey. Pidge wake up." He called. She just growled at him. "No." She whined, flipping over in her ball.
"Does my hair make a comfortable blanket?" He teased leaning closer so he could look at her.
That comment made her bolt upright, her face burning red with embarrassment and quickly crawling out of her cocoon.
"N-No!" She sputtered out. "It was just a way to get warmth." She said. "Uh-huh." Was Lance's only reply.
"Well up and at 'em." Lance said. "Today is a very big day." Pidge groaned but still got up, rubbing her eyes tiredly before grabbing her glasses that she had left on a rock the night before.
"Fine. Let's go see the lions." Pidge said, adjusting her vest. They could see the kingdom, the Garrison and the tall castle from here and she gulped nervously.
Lance lit up. "Yes!" He cheered grabbing onto Pidge's hand and dragging her forward. She immediately let herself melt into a smile. She also noticed something immediately; Lance's overgrown hair would be a problem in the city with bustling people and carriages. It was times like this when she somewhat wished she embraced more of her feminine side and knew how to braid.
"Uh... Lance. What about all of this...?" She said, grabbing onto a pile of his hair.
"Hmm." Lance pursed his lips together in thought. He looked around noticing a group of kids braiding each others hair and smiled. "It's about time I got my hair done." He said with a smirk, gesturing to them. Lance started approaching them, a bundle of hair still in his arms. He politely asked them if they wanted to try braiding his hair. The children lit up with excitement and quickly agreed.
As they got to work, Lance chatted with them, and Pidge watched from a not so far distance. He seemed to be so good with children and something about that fact really made her happy and even more drawn to Lance. She watched with a goofy smile on her face and only was brought out her trance when she saw guards passing by and found herself ducking quickly to avoid being spotted.
The kids finished their work and they had somehow managed to get his hair just a few inches above the ground. Pidge had to admit that it looked great, especially on Lance. She subconsciously sent a hand up to touch the ends of her hair. She really loved her short hair, but sometimes she did wish she still had the rest of it. She also loved wearing pants but still occasionally missed wearing the simple dress.
"You coming shortie?!" Lance called out. "As my guide you need to show me all the sights." He added with the charismatic grin that made little Pidge's heart want to melt.
"I'm coming! I'm coming." She said, picking up her pace so she could walk with him.
They walked their way into the city and Lance noticed all the fancy decorations and lights filling the streets. "What's happening here?" He asked.
Pidge, who was also looking around (mostly for guards), explained. "Oh, its celebration for the lost adoptive prince. They'll be a whole show with the lions later and everything. Perfect. Right?" She said, looking up at him.
"Oh cool!" Was Lance's reply before returning to look at all the booths and things they passed.
While in the city and waiting for the show with the lions the duo did a lot of things. They explored the library, hid from guards and ate festival food. Pidge had even bought (Yes, bought. Even a thief can buy something) a Blue Lion themed flag for Lance. When giving it to him she had completely avoided eye contact and told him to "Not think to much into it." Lance, with coins he had stolen from Honerva, decided to buy Pidge a cute little lion plushie. But the most memorable part in both of their minds was the dancing.
In the town square, there were musicians playing upbeat festival music and Lance couldn't keep himself from starting up a dance. He pulled several people in to dance with him until the square was full of people twirling around. Pidge watched in awe. She wasn't much of a dancer and wasn't planning on joining in until Lance beckoned her. She, for some reason, couldn't say no and came barreling into the dance and found herself giggling and stepping to the music. Not to mention that several times, the two of them got to dance together which brought red to both of their cheeks.
Neither of them noticed the sun was setting until someone announced that the Voltron Show was beginning and reminding everyone to get to the boats. Pidge and Lance both shared a quick smile before racing each other to the dock.
Authors Note:
Isn't it great waking up at midnight flooded with inspiration? Yeah there are pros and cons because now I'm super tired but at least I got to write something really fun! I know I've been saying this in like all my author's notes but I really really enjoyed writing this part because yet again it is one of my favorite moments in the movie. (I just love this movie. Okay?) Thank you so much for reading! And please, share any comments, suggestions, requests questions or anything. I love reading your comments :)
