She was in trap.
She was screwed.

"Come on Cora think"
Cora bounced from one feet to the other and in that moment the  light of a street lamp hit a shiny plate on the ground.
She picked it up "a number?". Cora connected the dots :one of the houses lost its number and probably a car dragged it there.
Cora wondered through the houses "27 ,26 ...missing number? Ah bingo! 25!"
She needed to ask for help.
She rang at the house doorbell, she was struggling to breath and a big knot in her stomach began to make itself notice.
A silhouette appeared in front of the door. She smiled nervously
-Yes there? How can I help ya lil' one?-
A thick southern accent erupted form the figure, it was shooting similar to the one that rose form her old grandpa while he was telling her stories. Not even her grandpa was there for her
now.
Cora breathed in and spoke softly
-I believe this is yours sir- Cora stood awkwardly holding the small shiny plate in one shaky hand towards the figure on the door frame. She was way too used to having shaking hands.
The small gate clicked in front of her, she pushed it open and reached towards the man.
She came in to the lights and the man's features were now clear.
He offered a tender smile, he was so tall yet it was weirdly comfortable to be around him.
- Aren't ya cold darlin'? Ya look like yer freezing-
-Sir actually- Cora started trying to hard to suppres the cry she wanted so desperately emit and to gain a little of composure.
When she spoke again her voice was still shaky.
- There is , there is a man at the end of the street. I have no idea who he is he followed me till here, I ...I promise I'm not trying to to do anything weird I just need help, please-
Cora sounded miserable in her head, almost like a baby talk.

Jesse has so many questions but he could get an answer to each of them later. He looked at the end of the street with a frown, indeed a man was there.
He looked back at the whimpering child. He placed an hand on her back - Come on sweet pea ,let's make some tea shall we?-
Jesse has his eyes glued to the black eye peeking under her  hair, it looked painful.
Hanzo head popped from the kitchen's door frame as soon as he heard the word 'tea' but it all took another turn when he saw the little girl. He gave Jesse the 'what the actual heck?' look.
Cora looked around in a mix of scared and amused.
- So honey what 'bout we sit down and you tell me yer name and what happen' huh?-
Jesse offered once again a lovely smile squatting down at Cora's height.
-Sure- she murmured while nodding.
They entered the kitchen, Cora was esitant , small like a scare cat.
- So I'm Jesse and this is my handsome husband Hanzo- he then leaned closer to Cora - Don't let his appearance fool ya he is a cutie pie-
Jesse then winked, hanzo only seemed unimpressed.
- What 'bout ya dall, what's yer name?-
- Cora, my name is Cora-
She said firmly, trying to sound less shook.
The two men sat down and so did the kid.
- I'm six years old and I live with a family- she looked away - a foster family, not far from here, I - she hesitated one moment- they kinda send me out while ...while they had the family over for Christmas. Then I was walking and a man began to follow me around so I came here...I mean I found the street and and I found the plate with the number you know the address thing- she stopped, breathed trying to not stumble in her words "mom hated when you did"
She felt like she couldn't breath anymore.
-I see- for the first time since she entered the household Hanzo spoke.
- Have you eaten tonight?-
Cora seems to think.
-No not really ,but I have some soup in my backpack-
Jesse almost felt sick: if this kid wasn't abused he didn't know who was.
Cora gently set on the table a small bowl , she opened the cap and looked at it, not really pleased with the meal.
- Is it cold hun?- Jesse asked once again smiling.
- Yes- She mumbled. Hanzo sat up walking towards the kitchen counter, he picked up the remaining pizza roll and offered them to the little girl remarking that they were actually warm.
Cora took one in one hand and bit on it, her eyes widened in pure joy and she smiled happily.
- Someone likes pizza rolls I see- Jesse laughed.
The couple hearts were surely way warmer than those rolls.
