*EMETOPHOBIA WARNING (just a small mention but better to not risk)*
Just one day.
One day before Cora was talking with Genji. She was nervous, yes, but at least she wasn't where she is now.
The infirmary wasn't that great, it was grey and smelled like alcohol all over. Not the kind of alcohol Cora was used to. Not that frightening smell coming from a man mouth, not that desgusting, suffocating, blood-freezing kind of smell but still bitter and painfully strong.
Cora felt pretty bad that morning. Like really really bad. She tried to avoid Hanzo and Jesse touch because she felt like she was burning alive and freezing at the same time.
Cora didn't know a lot of things but one of those surely was that school is a must, something she can't miss even when she feels like crawling in a small spot and not moving.
So that morning Cora decided to stay silent and go to school, pulling her best smile and trying to not let out how terribly her whole body shook at every step.
Hanzo was suspicious, he knew this kind of things, these tricks, that he had no choices of avoiding when he was a kid.
Still Hanzo wasn't sure, he could have been mistaken and figured that Cora was tired. He just went on with a talk to his spouse ,though, about how he shouldn't try to make the small thing watch movies so late in the night.
But still everything came crushing down an hour or so later when Cora asked to go to the bathroom.
James a chubby kid whose hand were always fidgeting with his pens, pulled out of his backpack a snicker and opened it.
In any other circumstances Cora would have found the smell delightful, but then it was sickening.
The kid began to shove the fat snack down his throat in a rush, trying to not get caught ,and the action, the sound, the smell ,so overwhelming ,just hit Cora in the face like a splash of cold water.
She speeded out of the class as soon as the teacher gave her permission.
Next thing she knew was the acre smell of vomit and her body going limp.
Cora hoped for a moment to get away with that, hoped for the teachers to not call home, to not be seen badly by Hanzo and Jesse for lying and for being so stupid.
Because it was how she felt.
Foolish.
There in that infirmary, that sluggish wait that was draining out the hope to be forgiven by Hanzo for her idiotic ways.
Cora deserved it after all, she should have said something but she didn't, she could have avoided everything.
She felt her stomach tightening, tighter than that morning.
And then the nurse came in, dirty blonde hair falling loose from her ponytail, that usual redness dusting her cheeks.
Her plummy voice raising over Cora thoughts, breaking like some teen's voice do while speaking, she didn't find it amusing though:- Your dadda's here, come on-*****
Hanzo worked on that damn face all morning his tea turning cold as he tried to draw the same woman over and over.
The project he was carrying out was one of the most thrilling he worked on.
An illustrated crime story set in the 19th century, and he ,obviously, was the illustrator.
The woman he drew was beautiful ,of course she was, but still that little of widsom he planned on dusting over her feature was just missing.
Hanzo looked over at his desk and then at the pile of paperwork sent by the foster care system ,about policy and such.
He scammed over every file with Jesse as soon as the documents got provided to them.
He leaned back in his chair pushing painfully the heels of his hands against his eyes and sighing deeply.
-What is wrong with you?-
The words were soft as he cracked one eye open and stared for the 100nd time at the portrait in front of him.
Then the phone rang.
Hanzo almost let his mug fall and walked slowly towards the blue cordless sitting on a round trippod in a corner of the main hall.
-Yes ,who am I talking to?-
-Goodmornig sir, Cora's school here.
I am talking to ...?-
-Umm Yes .Shimada Hanzo how may I help you? Did something happened-
Hanzo couldn't hide the concern, not that he had to, he was just used to it.
The thin and croaky voice went on :- Cora's sick. She threw up. Are you avabile to pick her up sir?-
Hanzo had to nod before remembering to answer.
He knew it, Cora was really sick and now he felt a little inconsiderate.
-I'm coming thank for calling me-
-Oh no problem sir, we will be waiting-
Hanzo hurried outside.***
Cora followed the nurse. The woman looking straightforward, her walk hinted that the woman was jolly but her face gave away another idea.
Cora looked in front of her too passing the way too familiar halls of the school and roaming her eyes from class to class.
Everything to distract her from her nervous breathing.
When Hanzo came in sight Cora felt like smiling so brightly. Because Hanzo was there and for a moment she forgot the world.
But then the hand on her shoulder shook her from her thoughts and Cora understood she owned an explanation to Hanzo and she was cared to tell him, so so scared.
