*Y/n's POV*

While walking to school I listen to music. I shuffle my playlist and the first song that comes on is Start Over by Flame.

Everybody's got a blank page...

The music flows through my ears as I close my eyes and start to sing along.

"A story they're writing today
A wall that they're climbing
You can carry the past on your shoulders
Or you can start over

Regrets, no matter what you go through
Jesus, he gave it all to save you
He carried the cross on his shoulders
So you could start over."

I stop singing when I hear a honk from a car. I pull off my headphones to see Rachel sitting in the back seat of a car.

"Hey Y/n!" She waves to me. I wave back.

"Hi." She smiles at me and I blush slightly.

"You want a ride? The school's pretty far away." I shook my head.

"No." I wave her off politely.

"You don't say much do you?" I shake my head at the man in the front seat.

"Not big on talking?" Asks the other man in the passenger seat. I shake my head again.

"Please Y/n." Rachel pleaded. "I don't want you to be late." I sigh, I can't just deny her like an asshole.

"Okay." I reply, reluctantly.

"Yay!" She gets out of the car and pulls me to the other side.

When I get in the car I slip my headphones back on and start my song again. I would occasionally hum and sing some of the lyrics, looking out the window the entire ride.

When we reached the school, I felt a soft tap on my shoulder and looked over to see a smiling Rachel holding out her hand. I placed my hand in hers lightly.

I got out of the car and took a step before turning back to Rachel and who I assumed to be her dads.

"Thanks." After I said that, I turned back around and walked away briskly.

*Rachel's POV*

"Well she's just super friendly." I heard my dad joke and I turn to him.

"She's just shy. She was talking to me just fine yesterday until Finn walked up. She's not really a big fan of new people." I smile at my dads.

"Well, she didn't seem shy as much as she seemed rude." My dad said again.

"Yeah. I'm guessing she takes awhile. When her mom picked her up it looked to be only them, she looked happy though." My dads looked at me suspiciously. "What?"

"Why are you taking such a liking to her? The last person this happened with was Quinn." I shrugged.

"No reason. She just seems like a good person. I have to talk to Mr. Shue. Bye , I love you." I walk away and head to the Glee room. I wanted to talk to him about singing a duet with Y/n.

When I got to the Glee room, I didn't find Mr. Shue, instead I found Y/n sitting in the front of the class, on the guitar, singing You Belong With Me by Taylor Swift except all the pronouns and things were changed.

"You're on the phone with your boyfriend
He's upset
He's going off about something that you said
'Cause he doesn't get your humor like I do
I'm in my room
It's a typical Tuesday night
I'm listening to the kind of music he doesn't like
And he'll never know your story like I do'

But he wears jerseys
I wear T-shirts
He's team captain
And I'm on the bleachers
Dreaming about the day when you wake up
And find that what you're looking for has been here the whole time

If you can see I'm the one who understands you
Been here all along so why can't you see
You belong with me
You belong with me

Walkin' the streets with you and your worn-out jeans
I can't help thinking this is how it ought to be
Laughing on a park bench, thinking to myself
Hey isn't this easy

And you've got a smile that could light up this whole town
I haven't seen it in a while since he brought you down
You say your fine
I know you better then that
Hey what you doing with a boy like that

He wears cleats
I wear sneakers
He's team captain and I'm on the bleachers
Dreaming about the day when you wake up
And find that what what you're looking for has been here the whole time

If you can see that I'm the one who understands you
Been here all along so why can't you see
You belong with me

Standing by and waiting at your back door
All this time how could you not know
Baby, you belong with me
You belong with me

Oh, I remember you drivin' to my house in the middle of the night
I'm the one who makes you laugh
When you know you're about to cry
And I know your favorite songs
And you tell me about your dreams
I think I know where you belong
I think I know it's with me

Can't you see that I'm the one who understands you
Been here all along so why can't you see
You belong with me

Standing by and waiting at your back door
All this time
How could you not know
Baby you belong with me
You belong with me

You belong with me
Have you ever thought just maybe
You belong with me
You belong with me"

I stood by for the entire song and waited for her to finish.

"What's she doing?" I hear someone whisper behind me. I turn around and see Santana, Britney, and Quinn standing behind me.

"I don't know." I shrug as Y/n puts down the guitar.

"You guys didn't have to wait by the door. I knew you were there." She turns around and makes eyes contact with me, startled. "Except you." She points at me and blushes.

"Me?" I ask, pointing to myself.

She nods and stands up abruptly.

"Excuse me." She walks past us and down the hall.

I turn to the girls to see them looking at me.

"Why did she change the pronouns?" I look at them and they immediately answer.

"She's gay." They say in unison.

"W-what?" I stutter. "How do you know?"

"Oh come on Berry. It's obvious. The way she blushed when she saw you, they way she blatantly ignores most guys, the changed pronouns? She was obviously singing about a girl." Santana answers as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.

"You seriously didn't notice?" Quinn asks as she puts an arm around me.

"No? Was I supposed to?" Britney looks at me.

"Even I knew." She states.

"Am I the only one who didn't know?" I threw my hands up in the air as Mr. Shue walked in.

"Are you the only one who didn't know what?" He asks as he sets his papers down on his desk and sits down.

"That Y/n is gay." Quinn answers for me.

"Yeah, pretty much. She doesn't try to hide it. If someone says something about it, she tells them. That's why she's so closed off. She came out in song form at her old school and something bad happened, but it's not my place to tell." I sigh at Mr. Shue and remember I was going to talk to him about the duet.

"Hey Mr. Shue, since we're on the topic of Y/n I was hoping that if I could convince her, we could sing a duet together?"

"If you can convince her, go for it. Have fun doing that though." I smile at him.

"Thanks Mr. Shue!" I say and walk out to go to my first class.
