*Y/n's POV*

It's been about four months since Rachel and I became friends. She broke me out of my shell a lot and I've developed feelings for her and it's becoming hard to contain them. So today, today's the day I tell her. I have the courage for now, I just don't know how I'll handle it when I'm rejected, but it's better to say than to keep it in.

I walk over to Rachel's house and knock on the door.

"Oh hey Y/n." She smiles at me when she answers the door.

"Hey. I was wondering if you wanna walk with me today?" I ask hopefully.

"Sure, let me just tell my dads and grab my stuff." She moves out of the way so I can stand in the doorway, I close the door behind me as she runs upstairs. Her dads come pit of the kitchen and smile at me.

"Hi Y/n. What are you doing here?" They ask and I smile at them.

"Hey Mr. And Mr. Berry. I'm here to see Rachel. She just ran up the stairs." Just as I said that, Rachel came back down the stairs.

"Perfect. Can I walk to school with Y/n?" She asks, just as hopefully as I asked her.

"I don't see why not." I smile at her dads and so does she.

"Thank you. Love you guys bye!" Rachel pulls me out of the house as I laugh.

"Bye Mr. And Mr. Berry!" I shout before she closes the door.

We head to school as I play music from my phone so both of us can hear. This is the first time she's ever heard anything on my play list in the four months we've been friends.

"Y'know. This music isn't half as bad as I thought it would be." She smiles as I pretend to be offended.

"How dare you insult me like that! Alternative/Indie music is the foundation of the music world!" I gasp and she laughs, nudging me to the side with her elbow.

"Whatever you say weirdo." We spend the rest of the walk talking, laughing, and listen to the music.

When we got to school, I kept a small smile on my face as we walked down the halls side by side. We got a few strange looks from everyone else, but Quinn, Santana, and Brittany join us.

"Hey Berry, Y/l/n." Santana says to us as she walks up.

"Hey Lopez." I smile at her slightly.

"What was so funny? We saw you walking to school together and you were laughing like crazy." Quinn asks looking at Rachel and I.

"Oh nothing really. She said something about my taste in music." I nudge her and she sticks her tongue out at me.

"Yeah I did. Mrs. Alternative/Indie is the foundation of the music world." Now it was my turn to stick my tongue out at her.

"You just watch. I'm gonna be the biggest Alternative/Indie star in the industry and you're gonna be doing your fancy Broadway thing. Who would be more famous then?" I look at her.

"Um. Berry would. More people watch Broadway than they listen to Alternative/Indie." I shoot a playful glare at Santana.

"Hey, you're supposed to be on my side Lopez." That's when the bell rings and we part ways for class.

After school I walk to the Glee room. I find everyone there except Rachel. I stand and wait for her to show up.

When she does finally show up I point to the seat in the very front row that had a name card with her name on it. She looked confused, but sat.

"Y/n. What're you doing?" She asks as I pick up a guitar.

"Just listen, okay?" She nods and I start to play Just the Way You Are by Bruno Mars.

"Oh, her eyes, her eyes make the stars look like they're not shinin'
Her hair, her hair falls perfectly without her trying
She's so beautiful and I tell her everyday
Yeah, I know, I know when I compliment her she won't believe me
And it's so, it's so sad to think that she don't see what I see
But every time she asks me "Do I look okay?"
I say

When I see your face
There's not a thing that I would change 'cause you're amazing
Just the way you are
And when you smile
The whole world stops and stares for a while
'Cause girl you're amazing
Just the way you are
Yeah

Her lips, her lips, I could kiss them all day if she'd let me
Her laugh, her laugh she hates but I think it's so sexy
She's so beautiful, and I tell her everyday

Oh you know, you know, you know I'd never ask you to change
If perfect's what you're searching for then just stay the same
So don't even bother asking if you look okay, you know I'll say

When I see your face
There's not a thing that I would change
'Cause you're amazing
Just the way you are
And when you smile
The whole world stops and stares for a while
'Cause, girl, you're amazing
Just the way you are

The way you are
The way you are
Girl, you're amazing
Just the way you are

When I see your face
There's not a thing that I would change
'Cause you're amazing
Just the way you are
And when you smile
The whole world stops and stares for a while
'Cause, girl, you're amazing
Just the way you are

Yeah"

I finish the song and look up hopefully to see Rachel with tears in her eyes.

"Y/n. I'm sorry." I let a few of my own tears.

"It's fine, I'm okay." I say, trying to convince myself more than her.

"I really am sorry." She says again.

"I know, and I'm fine." Again, trying to convince myself more than anyone else.

"It's just that I'm with Finn and-" I cut her off.

"I said I'm fine!" I stand up abruptly and leave the room, crying. I poured my heart and soul into that. I really am not fine.

*Rachel's POV*

"Wait Y/n!" I get up and run to the door, crying a little bit. It was too late, she had already disappeared down the hall.

"That little-!" I hear Finn yell as Mr. Shue held him back.

"Finn, calm down!" Quinn cut in.

"She just had the guts to confess to my girlfriend in front of me and then make her look like the bad guy!" I feel an arm around my shoulder and look up to see Kurt.

"We get that, but that is an angry, sad, lesbian you are trying to go after, and trust me, you do not wanna fight her right now." Santana said. All of them are standing up for her.

"Plus didn't you do the same thing to Jessie when you sang Jessie's Girl to Rachel?" Brittany asked, still sitting next to Santana.

"Well, yeah. But this is different because-" He was cut off by Quinn.

"Because she's a girl going after your girlfriend? Give her a break, she already has it hard enough. She doesn't need a homophobic asshole coming after her for confessing to his girlfriend."

My best friend. She ran out after she confessed to me.
