Laynaa stared at Taj with shock covering every inch of her facial expression. “So you gonna TALK to this bitch after all this bullshit ,Taj??” She said with venom in her voice.
“Look, Lay, I need answers. ALL of them... I know you don’t like it but I need to talk to her” Taj told her best friend.
“I don’t trust this bitch.” Laynaa reaffirmed.
“I know, but just let me talk to her. I gotta to do this for me Lay. I NEED to do this.” Taj said. The look in her eyes said it all. Laynaa hated seeing the one person that meant everything to her, any way other than with complete joy.
“Ok” Laynaa finally gave in. “But Im right the fuck here if that bitch try something!” she added directing her words toward Kerri.
“Cool” Taj said. She turned to Kerri. “Aight, let’s talk.”
“Can we talk about this in private” Kerri emphasized, staring directly at Laynaa.
“Aight” Taj said, “she comin’ in the house though. I’m not leavin’ her out here”
“Whatever,” Kerri said nonchalantly to Taj. “Don’t touch my shit.” she snarled at Laynaa.
“Oooh bitch, keep tryin’ me!” Laynaa said, ready to pounce.
“Watch ya mouth” Taj sternly said to Kerri. That was all it took to silence Kerri. She walked toward her bedroom with Taj following.
Once in Kerri’s bedroom, a wave of familiar emotions flooded Taj’s head. This was once a place of happiness, smiles, laughter, and countless sexual escapades. Now, all it held were memories of the past. Memories of what wouldn’t be anymore.
Kerri sat down on her bed and patted the spot beside her. “Sit” She said sweetly with a soft smile.
Taj’s heart almost melted until she remembered what she was there for. Her face hardened as she reaffirmed to herself that she came for answers. “Talk.” She simply said.

Laynaa walked around the average sized living room examining every picture and small figurine scattered on the coffee tables with disgust. She stopped at a picture of what looked like Kerri as a child. She couldn’t have been more than 7, with bows in her hair and a huge kool-aid grin. She was posed with her hands on her knees and her butt sticking out as if she were showing it off.
This bitch was a hoe since birth! Laynaa thought to herself as she laughed out loud. An abrupt coughing began to ring from the kitchen. Peeking her head around the corner, Laynaa slowly walked into the kitchen to see where the coughing was coming from. The second she made it around the corner she immediately wished she hadn’t. Kayla sat at the kitchen table looking horrible and coughing up blood into a napkin.
Damn, I fucked her shit up. Laynaa thought as she began to feel guilty. She didn’t know her own strength when she was mad, and though the damage was already done, the caring side of her wouldn’t let her ignore the situation.
“Hey girl,” Laynaa said softly, with a slight smile on her face “um, you ok?”
“What do you think?” Kayla said sarcastically.
“Whatever, I was just trynna see if u was ok since you in here coughin up a lung. I was trying to be nice since I just finished beatin your ass but fuck that!” Laynaa said, anger beginning to rise again.
“I don’t want to fight you!” Kayla yelled quickly trying to avoid another beating.
“Then watch your smart ass mouth!” Laynaa yelled back at her as she stormed back into the living room. She rounded the corner at the same time that the front door unlocked and swung open.
