POV: Zuri Sparrow
I hadn't expected to see James. Not here. If it were normal circumstances, I would've assumed he was drunk beyond reason at the fault of his pranking troops.
                              Reasons? Here:
                              1. James Norrington does not get himself drunk.
                              2. James Norrington does not fail to care for his hygiene.
                              3. James Norrington does not go to Tortuga.
                              4. James Norrington lives up to his reputation.
                              5. James Norrington is a proud yet humble man.
                              6. James Norrington absolutely does NOT make a fool of himself.
And yet...James had done the four he did not do and completely disregarded the other two, doing the complete opposite.
My James...since when does he throw away his morals? Since when does he let all of it go to waste?
His story explained it all, making me feel horrible for my poor James. Maybe that was why I didn't push the argument but instead gave him the love he clearly hungers for. His eyes practically screamed his need for my love. If I were to start the argument with him about Elizabeth, I knew James would break.
See, Elizabeth is one of my best friends.
But the fact the one man I've ever fallen in love with used to be head-over-heels with her, things get tetchy when the three of us are in the same room. Or whenever James starts getting all sappy with me, because it always makes me wonder if he would've been like that with Elizabeth, or if we have something special.
I constantly worried myself to the point where I would get sick. James doesn't know about that part, though. He just knows I get mad.
So, as I kissed James again, right before we left, I cleared my head and let myself indulge in the feeling of his arms around me again. It had been so long since I'd last seen him.
James took off my hat, pulled off the band that was identical to my brother's, and ran his hand through my hair, fingering my curls. Instead of my brother's dreadlocks, I had wavy and curly hair the same color as his. As twins, I needed a difference other than our genders between me and my brother. And James had admitted he liked my hair that way. His fingers played around with the belt looped twice around my waist. I slapped his hand away deftly, so he wound that arm around my waist. His other hand toyed with the strings of beads in my hair, around my face, just like my brother's.
You'll find my brother and I are very similar. I say "just like my brother's" a lot.
"Oh, come on, my precious. Let's go find my brother and crash his party."
James gave me that adorable smile and I smiled back.
