POV: James Norrington

I immediately wished Zuri hadn't left me to deal with her stupid brother on my own. She vanished into the bar and I lost her in the crowd. So, I was left to follow her order: make a scene and join up with her brother.

But there was no way I was doing that in my right mind.

So I got drunk.

I knew Zuri would kill me for it after, but I figured it would be worth it. At least, if I regretted it, I could blame it on the liquor, even if only in my own heart.

It didn't take all that long for me to get one hundred percent intoxicated. So when I staggered over to the place Sparrow and his first mate(Gibbs? Was that his name?), I was completely out of my mind.

(Good job, James. What is wrong with you?)

Everything went by in a blur, until I was pointing my pistol at Sparrow, who was creeping across the room, failing at attempting to hide behind a leaf that offered him no cover whatsoever.

"Sorry," I growled. "Old habits die hard and all that."

What happened next blanked from my memory, until the fight started. Then it went in and out again until everything came back into focus as I was thrown into the mud of the pig pen. I realized Elizabeth was crouching over me.

"James Norrington. What has the world done to you?"
