Thunder crashed and lightning struck and a second later, my eyes opened. I turned to look at the clock to see that it was only 4:46 AM and I returned to my previous position: head tucked under my fiance's chin and his arm around my waist. I lifted my head to give him a quick kiss but his soft groan signalled that he shouldn't be bothered. With this, I nudged my head back under his chin and went back to sleep.
Beep beep beep
The next time I woke up was to the sound of my alarm and the smell of breakfast. With no one next to me, I got out of bed with ease and went straight into the kitchen for the food that my soon-to-be husband was cooking.
"Mmm," I hummed as I wrapped my arms around him, "something smells good and it isn't just the food."
"Calm down, tiger," my fiancé chuckled, "go get ready for work and the food should be done by then. I don't have to head out until later so don't feel rushed."
"Okay darling," I smacked his behind as I drew out the word "darling" knowing how uncomfortable that word makes him. He growled and I quickly sped off into the bathroom to get ready for today's work. Michael and I ate a filling breakfast together and I headed off to work. Due to some naughty shenanigans at breakfast, I was a tad bit late for my shift at the hospital and did a little mix of speed-walking and jogging into the hospital doors when I crash right into someone as I hear, "Catch that patient!" The next few seconds are entirely full of my head throbbing as I pick up my bag, but when I look up, I find myself looking into the most beautiful pair of green eyes I had ever seen.
