I stared at the man in front of me. My old high school crush. And, gods, he still looked as gorgeous as he did in high school. His eyes still sparkled bright blue. His brown hair had darkened up and was a bit more gelled and styled than normal, but it still looked amazing and so soft. I fought the urge to reach up and touch it.
We caught up for a few minutes. He works now as the CEO of a record company. Of course. I always told him he would go somewhere in life. Me on the other hand... I think I saw that coming too. I reminisced for a few seconds on the high school days where we would start each other's Broadway careers with my first musical. That musical still sat on my desk at home, unfinished, probably to stay that way too... Lucas doesn't like the idea of me working.
"So... What have you been up to?" Ben asked.
I froze, not sure how to tell him that I literally did nothing. And for some odd reason, I didn't want to tell him I had a boyfriend, but what choice did I have?
"Not much. My boyfriend moved down here so I live with him. Still trying to finish that musical from high school."
Ben smiled and laughed lightly. "I forgot all about that. You should stop by my office sometime and we should look at it." He handed me a card. "Unfortunately, I have to go off to work, but I'll see you soon, yes?"
"Definitely," I promised, waving as he walked away. He flashed me a bright smile over his shoulder and it took all my strength not to melt on the spot.
I slowly moved back to my table with my coffee in my hands. I didn't even realize the goofy grin on my face until Sarah pointed it out.
"Okay, who did you just run into?" She asked suspiciously.
"An old friend..." I said cryptically.
"So that was Ben that I saw you with!" Camryn exclaimed, making my face flush red.
"Sush. Someone could hear you!" I warned her, making her giggle.
"Oh come on! We all know you had a crush on him in high school! You were just too scared to do anything about it!" Sarah said, taking Camryn's side.
"Also, I was- and am- taken!" I reminded them.
They just giggled in response.
A/N: Sorry for the long-ish wait and the short chapters. Writing a story that parallels your life is difficult. I might take on a co-author. I'll have to think about it. But if you would like to be considered, go ahead and let me know! Thanks y'all!
