"It's your turn," the prince sighed aloofly. Anytime there was a high-ranking person available for an hour or so, Ashe would gladly take them and test out their skills in the popular game. Unfortunately, it turned out that not many of the nobles were people he considered worthy of his skill. He hadn't lost a game in literal months. He was bored. His sister was good, maybe not as good as him, but even so she rarely wanted to play. He resigned himself to playing with anyone willing to play with him at this point—many people stopped agreeing to it after losing.

But here he was. The man seated across from him was stuck pondering over moves. To the prince, he looked lost. If it wasn't so boring the prince might have been smirking. He was going to beat this noble with a few more moves. He wondered if the little maid he knew could play very well... He imagined that some of her charms would fade if she was stupid. "Come on, sir, surely you have thought about all the moves possible at this point?" the prince prompted.

"Please, your majesty, you know I am not as familiar with the game as you are!" the noble whined before hastily moving a bishop diagonally a few spaces. Prince Ashe sighed loudly before moving his queen, quickly ending the game. He regained his composure and reminded himself to be cordial.

"Thank you for the game, sir, I hope to be seeing you again," the prince lied while holding his hand out. The noble nodded and shook his hand.

"You're quite good at the game, aren't you?" The noble stood.

"Quite," the prince agreed while staying in his chair. The exited the room, leaving the prince to contemplate. There was a lot he could be doing right now, but not a lot caught his interest. That lord was so boring that the prince was almost mad about it. He didn't talk about anything of interest and hardly played more than five moves. He stood. He was going to find his sister and demand a game.

The walk was short, but the prince took a long time to get there. Every staff member he saw he wanted to stop and talk with. Most of them liked him at this point and were pretty willing to speak briefly with him. He only acted this way to put them at ease and make them comfortable around him, anyway. A few avoided him—some out of shyness, and some out of fear. He made sure to seem friendly, but his status was still enough to put fear in the staff. He didn't mind that. It was good to have a few that were cautious just so that everyone knew not to get too casual. If they were, he'd have a problem. His parents weren't even half as nice as he was, and his sister rarely was. So, the staff remembered their place.

"Em, I want to play chess. Play with me?" He entered her room without knocking. Her back was turned from him as she sat in her chair and read over some documents. He took quick notice of the three maids in there. There was one of the common castle maids, Maurine, and you. He liked the three of you decently enough when compared to other maids. You were all organizing his sister's extensive library, it seemed. The castle maid was dusting the shelves while you and Maurine sorted through them. Hardly a three-person job, he thought. Maybe you could accompany the two of them during the chess game. It would be good to have a maid readily available to get drinks and be cute.

"Not now, Ashe. I'm reading these documents. A neighboring country seems willing to open up trade if we can offer them protection," The princess spoke without looking up from the paper. "I'm reading over their conditions.

"Can't you do that later? Or better yet—get an advisor to do it? You never play chess anymore," the prince pouted childishly. He noticed you noticing him, and he smirked to himself. He won't deny liking the attention. The princess sighed.

"I'll play another time, okay? Can't you get someone else?" She replied finally turning to face him.

"Everyone who knows how to play is busy," he shook his head. "Even (y/n) is cleaning!" he gestured to you. If this worked out in his favor, the princess would let you abandon the stupid chore she gave you.
