he walked up beside me, and put his things on a desk.
the girl, sitting in front of me grabbed his wrist and said
you don't want to sit there
no,
not next to him
he looked at her and replied
but i do want to sit here
yes,
next to him
she glared at him
but he stared her in the eyes and sat in the seat
he then turned to me and laughed
his tongue poking in between his teeth
it was adorable
he was adorable
- - -after class he ran up to me
he opened his mouth to speak
and i
ran
- - -i ran and ran and ran
weaving in and out and in and out of the crowds
he wouldn't follow me
who would?
but as i heard him call out behind me i thought
apparently, himhe slowed to a halt,
and i imagined dust spraying out from under his feet
just like we were in an old cowboy film
where the boy always gets the girl
and the bad guys always loose
i envisioned him with a cowboy hat
and strangely,
it suited him."would you like to walk me to your next class?"
he was flirting
of course he was
i didn't like itdon't get me wrong,
i knew
i knew
that in some fantasy world
i would say yes
and he would smile
i knew
i knew
that in this fantasy world we would be friends
and eventually,
something more
but i knew
i knew
that this was real
not some fantasy
so i said noi turned and walked off,
sparing him a look over my shoulderhis lips slightly parted
shock written all over his face
his eyes filled with desperation
he was gorgeousand i could
feel myself
