*3 months later*
"It's too bad Grayson couldn't hang out with us." I said.
"Yah he is on a date with Olivia" Ethan said bringing the popcorn over to the couch.
"They're so cute togeth-" I started to say before the ringing of my phone interrupted me.
Ethan's P.O.V.
She answered her phone. Her expression was hard to read.
"That's good. When? Oh. I'm glad to hear that. Do they know why he did it. Oh. Ok well thanks for letting me know. Talk to you later. Bye." She said to the mysterious caller.
She looked like she was on the verge of tears.
"Chloe, are you okay?" I asked her.
"Yah, sorta. Not really. I'll be okay. I mean it's good news. I just... it's hard. I'm fine." She started to say. Then she began crying.
Chloe's P.O.V.
I sat there crying. Suddenly I felt his strong arms wrap around me. I leaned my head against his shoulder.
He played with my hair and talked to me in a soothing voice.
After a while I stopped crying. We just sat in silence.
"Do you wanna talk about it?" He asked me.
"Umm okay..." I said. I took a deep breath and proceeded to tell them how my parents and brother died.
I explained that the call was from my aunt. She just found out the police caught the murderer. They don't know why he did it yet, but we will find out soon.
Ethan's P.O.V.
She has been through so much. I can't imagine what it was like. I could say I'm sorry a million times and mean it, but that won't get them back. It won't make her feel better.
She doesn't need sympathy. She needs someone who she can talk to. Someone who is there for her. Someone who cares. Someone who... loves her.
I love her.
I've liked her for a long time. I've been worried that our friendship could be ruined, but I have to take the chance. I just need to know if she likes me too.
"I love you Chloe" I whisper into her ear.
I think I ruined everything. She probably doesn't like me, and now I lost my friend.
She looks into my eyes.
"I love you too." She says. Then we kiss.
