Meeting the Friars: Part 1

Little time jump of a month.

Maya POV

Me and Lucas have been dating for a little over a month now.

Last week, when we had our 'one month of dating' aniversary, we went to a sushi restaurant for celebrating.
Lucas got me a very pretty silver necklace with a charm that is a sphere made of hearts, and I got him a painting I did of us.

Lucas haven't really said much about his old life on Texas. What I know is that he did something very bad and was expeled from his old school. He moved here for a new life, and lives almost entirely alone as his parents are always in their family farm, on Texas. They do came visit sometimes in the weekends and holidays, tough.

Probably next year, when Lucas turn 18 he is going to live completely alone. He said he doesn't care having all the chores and house responsibilities, but he misses his family much.

Today I am having dinner at his house as his parents are on the city and really wanna meet me.

I am very exited yet nervous.
I am wearing one of the dresses Shawn got me, high heels, the heart sphere necklace, and really old heart shaped earrings.

Shawn and my mom were going out today, so he offered to drop me at Lucas on their way, and I accepted because I wasn't really into getting the subway at 7pm.

I am waiting at Lucas door right now (He lives in a building).

"Hi angel" Lucas said after opening the door

"Hiii! I missed you! " I said and jumped on him for kissing

"We saw each other yesterday"

"I know"

"So, where are your parents?"

"My mom wanted to go shopping, so they had lunch at the mall and went shopping a little."

"Oh, okay. Cecilia is doing the food?"

"Yeah."

"Good."

Cecilia is the Friars helper, she goes to Lucas place once a week, clean it and does some food. She is a black, very short and thin women. She is a sweet and is always kind to me and Lucas.

"How did you got here?"

"My mom and Shawn are going out today so Shawn dropped me here on
their way."

"They look very happy together."

"Yeah, I'm happy they found each other"

Lucas hugged me and took me to the sofa.

"Pancakes?"

"What Huckleberry?"

"So....." He started saying kind of nervous. "My parents may be very strict on some topics. And, well, one of them is girlfriends."

"So you are saying that they won't like me?"

"No, what I'm saying is that they probably will make you feel uncomfortable and will ask weird questions."

"Hum. Like Mr. Matthew's?"

"Yeah kind of that."

"I'm nervous Lucas, what if they dont like me?"

"They will like you Maya"

"But what if?"

"They will. What about we watch something on TV until they are here"

"That's a good idea."

Me and Lucas watched TV for almost half an hour when we heard someone at the door. My hair was all messy so Lucas got out of the bed and went open it while I went to the bathroom, fix my hair.

"Hi Baby boy!" Ms. Friar said to Lucas when he opened the door and they hugged.
Well, at least there will be something good about this evening, Lucas is getting a new/old nickname.

"Hi Son!" Mr. Friar said and hugged Lucas

At this time I had already arrived at the living room and could see their faces.

Ms. Friar is a blonde, blue eyed women, she isn't short but Lucas is taller then her. She also doesn't look very old, probably forty something. Lucas has a lot from her, only his green eyes are definately from his dad. She is wearing black long sleeves, grey tone pants, and a big necklace.

Mr. Friar is brunette and have a lot of white hair. He is also shorter then Lucas, and have beard. He is wearing a black suit and a dark purple tie with yellow strings.

I entered the living room, Lucas came closer to me and introduced me to his parents then we sat at the living room couch and chairs.

"How are the studies going son?" Mr. Friar asked

"Very well, last exam week my lowest grade was B"

"You could have made better. What about you Maya?"

"Well, I'm not at the A group but I can pass"

"Hum"

"So what do your parents work with?" Ms. Friar asked

I looked at Lucas and answered "Well, my mom is the manager of a coffee shop and in her freetime she likes to act. And I don't know exactly what my dad does nowadays, but my almost step dad is an awesome photographer."

"Oh! I'm sorry, I didn't knew." Ashamed she answered.

"The table is already set" Cecilia entered the living room and said.

"Hi Cecilia" I said.

"Hi Maya" she answered and smiled at me.

We sat down in the beautifully set table.

I didnt knew how I wanted Lucas parents, hating Maya, loving her, thinking she isn't good for Lucas...
