The Game

The game we play is with our hearts,

and there are no rules-

Only the rules each player makes for themselves.

Winning is uncertain and the stakes are high.

If you lose the game, you could lose yourself.

The game never begins when you want it to, and

beginning to play was never your own choice.

Nor does the game end when you want it to.

The game is a searching game,

but once you find what you need, you can't just take it.

You have to play a game within a game.

And you can never just state your intentions out loud.

Sometimes you look from afar, distant.

Sometimes the game seems too easy for you.

Sometimes, what you thought was yours was never yours to begin with.
