The words were suffocating her; all the words she should have said but never did, and all the words she shouldn't have said but did. Words, she found out, could hurt. 

Sticks and Stones may break my bones

But words will never hurt me.

Then how come the pain inside had her doubled over with tears streaming down her face?

All the stories had told her that love walked hand in hand with life, but how could love do this to her? She had given him everything and what had he given her? 

A broken heart and the whispers of a goodbye. 

She couldn't even imagine ever loving another person in the same way again

Too many boys, she thought.  

A heart shaped hole in her soul.
